New Software Low-Visibility Landings

There are quite a few companies working on similar systems, including Garmin, Avidyne, Aspen Avionics and others. Garmin's system is called SVT (Synthetic Vision Technology), which does not include FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) capability

Collins is developing a unique system called SVS (Synthetic Vision System) and is being developed for Bombardier's Global Express. What's primarily interesting about this system is that the SVS image is also being projected onto the HUD, which keeps the pilot's eyes out the window while still being able to "see" the results of the SVS image! :)

Thanks Bill. Interesting article and info you provided . It's amazing how technology has advanced so much over the years . I'm sure it has raised the safety factor considerably for both the commercial and the private aviation community .
