'New Star Trek Movie Prequel'

Romulan? Or is this another Vulcanoid race that hasn't made an appearance until now?

As the new Star Trek movie approaches i am filled with grief.... for J.J has most likely FUBAR'ed it real good.

Finally saw what I presume is just one of several trailers last night.

"Forget everything you know" is not really a good way to address your core audience.

It irked me and I'm not anywhere near as immersed in Trek as some.

As a die hard Trekkie I have to say it looks fantastic. Rick Berman had all but killed the franchise and this looks like the perfect way to revitalise it.

If there ever was a crime against Trek then it was "Enterprise", simply one of the worst shows to grace our TV screens in a long time.

I've personally got high hopes for this prequel film.

I saw Zachary Quinto on Letterman last night. He definitely implied that what we'll be dealing with in this new movie is some sort of alternate timeline.

JAMES

ATTN: Chris H,

Why are you going after the ninja when you should be going after this plague of Calvin Klien ad vampires with their hair gel hanging around high school girls?

Not quite alternate but it's difficult for me to determine the "precise" timeline (by my read of the comic prequel, the base timeline takes place in the future but most of the movie occurs in the past) - but if you want me to divulge information from the prequel comic, I'd be happy to tell you :)
:)

They are using the multiverse to explain things aren't they? Something happens that forces a split in the timeline so we have two timelines running parallel to one another; one with the Enterprise, Kirk, Spock etc we all know and love and one with the new crew that can be as different as it likes as it exists seperately and different events can occur?

That's what I gather from the trailers when Nero explains "James Kirk was a great man, but that was another life."

Eoraptor1, you are exactly right. I shall now ammend the list, adding the undead, since that encompasses with vampires and those pesky annoying zombies.

Edit : It appears there is now a limit on what you can say in the "custom title" box :(

Does this prequel happen to star Spock?

Sorry for the double post...but I found the magazine I was looking for. The latest issue of "WIRED" magazine was guest-edited by JJ ABrams and has a 6 page comic entitled "When Worlds Collide: Spock Confronts The Ultimate Challenge". It doesn't have anything to do with your avatar but the last panel reads "To be continued... In Star Trek!" hmmm... maybe there are more than these two prequels. (considering this is JJ Abrams I would assume so.)

Okay, here's the dealio....

If you consider the end of "Star Trek: Nemesis" to be the current Star Trek present, then the movie base is in the future...

If you consider time to keep moving, even after "Star Trek: Nemesis", then the movie base is in the present.....

Pick your choice....

Now then, Picard is Ambassador to Vulcan.....Spock is the Federation Ambassador to Romulus....And the Enterprise is commanded by Captain Data (B-4)....

My avatar is a Romulan miner by the name of Nero....

Do you want me to continue?
