New / Updated campaign by Skylane!

Hello!

You haven´t heard much, if anything, from me for some time, because I´m quite busy in real life.

But I am still active with CFS2 and have been working on this new project for some time now.

This time it is not a completely new campaign, but rather an update / rework of the old campaigns "Buffaloes Over Singapore", "Hurricanes Over Sumatra" and "Defense of Java" that I made some years ago about the Japanese conquest of Malaya, Sumatra and Java in early 1942.

The new collection of campaigns is titled "Air War Over Malaya and the East Indies" and contains reworked versions of the fighter missions from the old campaigns. The bomber missions will follow at a later date.

In the update I made use of several new planes, ships, objects and sceneries that became available since I first released these campaigns. Especially I´d like to mention a new scenery for Sumatra that was made by Onnogras, but never released. He allowed me to use the scenery for my missions, and upload it together with my campaign.

I made new GSL scenery for most of the Malayan and Singapore airfields, and also GSL ports for Singapore and some other locations.

Since I learned a few things about mission building in the last few years, I reworked most of the missions and added several new ones, so the new missions should also be interesting for people who already flew the old campaigns.

Oh, yes, one more thing: There actually is a new campaign also included in this package: 31 missions where you get to fly the Nakajima Ki-43 and get a look at the conflict from the Japanese side. I had the idea for this back when I made the original campaigns, but never did it. Now, with the rework I decided to finally write this campaign, and complete the project.

The package is uploaded, you can get it as soon as Rami has approved it.

I hoe you have fun!

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Campaigns Add-Ons

Description: This is a reworked edition of my old campaigns “Buffaloes over Singapore”, “Hurricanes over Singapore” and “Battle for Java”.

On the British Commonwealth side I consolidated all the missions into two campaigns. In the first one, starting with the Japanese attacks on Malaya and ending with the loss of Singapore, you will fly the Brewster Buffalo. In the second campaign you fly the Hawker Hurricane, starting in January 1942 when the first of these fighters became available during the defense of Singapore. It continues with the ill-fated attempt to defend Sumatra and ends on Java, with the surrender of Dutch and Commonwealth forces in March 1942.

There is a third, completely new campaign in this package, which looks at the conflict from the Japanese side. You fly the Nakajima Ki-43 with the 64th Sentai of the Japanese Army Air Force from the beginning of the invasion of Malaya until the Japanese victory in Java.

Skylane,

That's splendid, great work! :encouragement: Would you like me to remove the older versions?

Rami: I would say, let´s keep the old campaigns in the library until I have also updated the bomber missions.

I have already started working on this, but it turned out to be a lot of work, and right now I have run out of steam... I also have a few other ideas that I might realize before I finish this project.

Skylane,

I know what you mean with regard to running out of steam...I've had intermittent issues with that during the Battle of France. :encouragement:

Thanks Skylane!
I already have your old campaigns installed and have flown most of the missions. Can't bomb worth a darn!
Looking forward to the new ones:applause:

Hey
Looking real good, look forward to play it,a lot of installation work ahead despite I do have the most of it in stock, the only problem I have faced is that there is a "dead link" ,got the message linkid 17590 does not exist when trying download RN Inter War Destroyers RNEFGHClassdestr1941Would be happy if somebody could help.
Killer Svend:applause:

Sorry, that was my mistake. Seems I missed that these ships were updated and the old entry removed since the time I wrote this part of the readme.
The same happened with the Scrap Iron Flotilla.

I will update the readme accordingly. Unfortunately I will also have to look into all the missions and replace the ship folder names. I will re-upload the whole package sometime next week, when I´m home again.

Rami, how do we best do this? Shall I attach a zip file with the updated stuff to a post here, and you insert them into the package, or is it better to upload the whole package again?

I just discovered something else I´ve missed:
Does anyone know if Tango Romeo´s schooners and junk are still available somewhere? I couldn´t find them.
If not, I will also have to replace them with something else in many missions...

Hi Skylane,

Thanks very much for these missions - you've done a great job.

If you are going to update the package next week, would you like the latest Sumatra scenery done by Devildog, Rami, UncleTgt, Onnogras (with their approval of course) and me for Operation Meridian?

The scenery includes the city of Palembang, the nearby Pladjoe refineries, the Praboemoelih oil field, plus a number of Onno's unfinished airfields which we completed.

Kevin

Skylane,
Thought I would mention that if you use Johns Dhows in a mission , you may want to correct
the allegiance section in the DP file..they are set up for the Vietnam project that only uses 1
and 2 US, 3 North Viet.....

just in case it makes a difference...

Dave

Thanks for the help, guys! :wavey:

I´m afraid it will take a Little longer than next week to repair the package, especially if I Switch to Kdriver´s Sumatra scenery.

Uncle Tgt, thanks for the link to the schooners and junk! I will stick with them, because I already used them in the original missions.

Rami, I will re-upload the whole package when I´m finished, maybe it would make sense to remove the original one?
