New Upgrade to Dino F-14D Vers 1.07

Dino has made some improvements to his great F-14D. He also discusses the future of this project and what to expect. You can find the new upgrade to V1.07 here.

As one of my favorite planes to fly I would glady pay for it. It's rare that something this high in quality is offered as Freeware. Thank you, Dino.

Dino himself states that this update is quite minor and that it probably won't make any difference to the majority of users. So it might be worthwhile waiting for the next update, rather than download this. I know I am. Good to know that he is continuing to improve this already excellent bird. :applause:

I don't have an issue with a hybrid Freeware/Payware model. I'm still flabbergasted that someone like Dino would do so much work for free, and put up with peoples gripes about it.

Yea, not going to go for this update. I don't fly the fast movers enough right now for those two minor glitches to ever be noticeable.

I'm with you Bone, there is a cell of people who would find anything to gripe about, even when they're getting it for free. Mostly uppity ups who think they know more than they actually do and then feel they have to take the developer to task and show their ignorance in the process.

Some people. . .

I think that if you read his blog there's an entry or comment which he states that he wanted criticism. ;) It's there. Just look

Ok, Dougie. . .we're not going to get into a case of semantics here. . . . you know as well as I do that there are different ways of looking at criticism and it's obvious by my statement that I was not referring to the constructive type. Now get over it and let's move on.

Maybe because there's still some people around who see this purely as a hobby (with all pros and cons) and not an industry? :kilroy:

OK, you have a point. Some people are motivated by shear love of the sport...and that's always appreciated by me.

...Well, yes, it is a minor update - I released it for "cleaning the desk" before moving completely to the F-35. As I said in my post, most people would not notice any difference from V1.06 to V1.07.

As for the criticism thing, yes, there is a post on my blog and I am very open to criticism. I think it is essential for improvement... but I have to confess that some sometimes you get very harsh (and even unpolite) emails from people that have unrealistic expectations - not to mention the ones that criticize your work simply because "they know" how the real plane works, looks and feels. I try to take the constructive part of these comments - and ignore the destructive one.

The Tomcat, in particular, is a much loved bird - and, judging from the emails I get, seems there is a lot of Tomcat "experts" around that are apparently ready to give you a lesson or two :)

Last, freeware VS payware is a complex issue - and "I love the sport"... but, a good and complex FSX airplane may well require 400 to 500 hours to make or even more than that. Not including research, acquire/buy documentation, etc. So, even a hobbyst like myself, may need some financial motivation before venturing into new projects - or, in the case of the Tomcat, major additions to the base package.

:jump:Based on the quality of your work, the F-35 should be a hit. You have a name in the flight sim circle, that is recognizable to most if not all who frequent forums. Your name alone should make the new venture a success. I wish you continued success in the future and financial support where ever you go with these models. Thanks again for all the hard work and detail. The Tomcat has always been and always will be one of my favorite aircraft.

Dino, thanks for the comments above. I for one appreciate your efforts to make your creation as good as it can possibly be. My reason for starting this thread was to alert those who want to keep your F-14D as up to date as possible. I may not notice the small change in 1.07 but just knowing I have the most up to date version make me feel good.

Thanks again for all your time and efforts on the Tomcat. I will be watching closely as to the progress on the F-35. Take care. :ernae:

Mr. Dino Cattaneo,

Thank you for working so hard to make this model enjoyable and useful. For a FREEWARE, it is the best one out there, IMO. It, also, makes many "limited functioning" payware versions, of other fighter aircraft, look "NOT so good" when being compared to your "Fully Loaded" FREEWARE one. Bravo! :applause:

I read your blog about a donation of $10. I believe that thats not too much to ask for more work on your part, from us fans. Although, I never asked you for perfection from a FREEWARE; like I've asked that from FSDT's F-14 and, especially, IRIS'; I'm going to start now. :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol: So, you can have a small donation from me too for an update pack. And, I'll give you $100 USD when you finish it; fixing all those nasty VC bugs and make it a complete 100% functional dual-pilot VC, too.

Finally, as for your F-35, I'm buying that too. Think of it this way, whatever you decide to do first and finish you'll be getting paid by me. ;)

Now, does that make it worth continuing the pursuit?

More Power to you...
Grazie! :wavey:
