New X56

Well, I did a thing... I took advantage of both having an extra paycheck this month and Amazon dropping the price for the controller. I have the stick half pretty much the way I want it, but I'm still in the middle of configuring the throttle section - I need to figure out something to do with all the different switches. I'm currently thinking most will be lights. One thing that I don't like is that the "slider" on the throttle isn't a slider. It's just a button that doesn't release when you take your finger off of it. On my X52, I had that as the spoiler axis. I like being able to do a steep descent in something like the Honda and use the air brake in small amounts to regulate my speed.

I'm currently working on the throttle's "Single" profile, with only the right throttle axis active. Once I have everything the way I want it with the switches, I'll duplicate it and set the two throttle axes for Throttle One and Throttle Two. After that, I'll make one more duplicate and set the left for one and two, and the right for three and four. That will cover things like the Dash-7 and other quads. The asymmetrical thrust will be especially helpful on some of the encrypted twins that currently have atrocious ground handling when you can't enable differential braking on the twist stick.

One very odd thing about the software. It doesn't add itself to the Start menu. I had to take the desktop shortcut and copy that to the folder that holds most of the rest of the Start menu shortcuts.

Good luck, Tom. I have had the X52 and X55 from Saitek. At the time, they were the number two choice when I couldn't afford the Warthog sets.
I almost bought the X56 after Logitech bought Saitek, but the reviews weren't great. Hopefully, Logitech has improved the X56 since it came out.
I "came into some extra $$" and bought the $$$ Turtle Beach Flight Deck set and have been very pleased.
FWIW, I still have both the X52, X55 and a VKB Gladiator boxed up in the back room. I'd be willing to let them go should anyone be interested.

I moved from an X52 to an X56 right at the start of the pandemic, and have not regretted my decision at all. It fits my giant mitts well, and having independent USB inputs for the stick and throttle is far better than the X-52's janky PS/2 interconnect that would kill the stick if the cord jiggled.

(I also play Train Sim Classic/Railworks, and run an interface program to use the throttles there as well, works great)

I finally figured out what to do with all the toggles on the throttle half... The three along the front are Gear, Flaps, and Taxi lights. The toggles on the right side from top down (reverse numerical order) are all lights - Nav, Beacon, Strobe, and Landing. The pseudo-slider is set for Throttle Reverse Hold, and the Rotary 4 knob is my best solution for spoilers. Once I got that sorted, I made my duplicates for twins and quads.

Now my brain is tired - think I'll go watch some (American) football...

The cable on my original Saitek 52 ended up going bad, so I found a replacement on Amazon and kept going a couple more years. Then the jack on the back of the stick started getting wonky, so I bought a replacement from Logitech. It still functions well, but the stick's lighting started to malfunction - not sure why. That's when I started looking for alternatives. I need LOTS of analog channels in my controllers, and this was a good solution.

I have it plugged into a pair of 3.0 ports on the rear IO panel. So far, no ghosting noted. I've seen some of the videos dealing with that. One said that even using a powered port didn't help. My guess is that even though it was powered, the port itself was only 2.0 rated.
