Basically, if you think about it, Macs are like huge versions of their iPod Touch and iPhones. They have 'similar' OS systems, though very different, just as Windows has an OS for their PDA's which is a simplified Windows OS.
In looking at a Mac at a Mac Store, and in owning a iPod Touch, and seeing the similarities and the ease of how the Apple OS structure works (pretty similar to Windows actually), I was sold... Bought a 24" then. (Well, my computer crashed, so thats when I got one).
I would say that your 'revelation' is correct Paul. The iPhone and iPod are 'mini-Pads'.
I am constantly thinking how my iPhone is like a Laptop. It does so much. Now they have basically made a super thin laptop like creation (without the keyboard bottom section) that is extremely similar to the iPhone and iPod Touch. But the difference is, from iPhone and the iPad, is that when you put it on the desk on its stand and hook up the keyboard, you have a desktop PC computer.
Not one that you can load programs in like a Netbook with Windows. This is a whole new breed of computer. This runs on Apps like an iPhone or iPod. This is a small gaming computer (Apps based). This is a media device, and it runs iWork, which is the Apple version of Windows Office. (One brilliant program, I might add. I use it and have Win Office as well, and I have basically abandoned Office for iWork. Too many features in it... )
