No, not really - Daniel is one of the people who worked on the cockpit, which is the one from the Mk VIII with one small modification to remove the tailwheel light and solve the specular problem. But otherwise we haven't tried to incorporate any of the effects or guns, simply because it was already getting complicated! The guns do have their own specific sounds though, which mean (if they ever work, which is another thing) that unless we modified those from the Mk VIII, we had to start with the AvH originals.
 
Unfortunately the cockpit effects cannot be added without adding emitters to the external model, which can't be done without a gmax source.

The Spitfire Mk. IX was introduced in the early summer of 1942, and scored its first kill in the hands of Flt Lt Donald Kingaby of No. 64 Squadron on 30th July 1942 over Boulogne in Northern France - an FW190, precisely the aircraft the Mk. IX had been developed to counter.

The Mk. IX went on to become the backbone of RAF Fighter Command, and was supplied both during and after the War to numerous countries. The new Merlin 61 engine used a two-stage supercharger to increase power especially at higher altitudes; where the Spitfire MkV's Merlin 45 would produce only 750 hp at 30,000 feet, the Merlin 61 produced 1020. This engine was developed further into the Merlin 66 which was optimized for higher performance at 22,000 feet to match the FW190's best performance height.

Aircraft fitted with the Merlin Mk.61 or 63 were widely referred to within the RAF as the Spitfire Mk.IXA. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the armament fit and served only to distinguish it from the later Merlin 66 LF.Mk IX., or Spitfire Mk. IXB.
