Piglet compiles his models with the FSX tools. It means that they will work in the dx10 without any problems.

Vaguely on topic...

Is it possible to add bump and specular maps to a model? I really enjoy flying the Mooney Mite, I was just wondering if it is possible for me to make some or is it down to how the model is made?

I'm yet to do a paint in FSX, seemed like a challenge!

No you can't. Only the original author who has the model files can "add" them and then re-export external/internal models.
