NHRA drags confusion.

Been catching up on some drag racing stuff just lately and in some confusion over the national records. At the Memphis meeting recently, the Army top fuel dragster won the TF catagory and is listed as the national record holder at 4.22 sec (Ithink). But during that memphis event several machines clocked times below 4 seconds. One down as low as 3.88. Am I looking at a wrong number of something ??? I still hate John Force

I thought they switched to 1,000 feet for the rest of the season.

I think, and I may be wrong, that in order to be recognized as the record holder, a car has to post similar times/speeds twice in an event. If a car runs 3.9 seconds only once, then they don't get any cake. But if a car runs 4.1 seconds twice, they get cake and ice cream.

OBIO

That might explain it obio. I think the other runs they did at that meeting were a bit messy. I thought maybe it has something to do with a pre-set of conditions (possably atmospheric) for a record. The 4.22 is great but could hardly believe the under 4 sec passes.....incredible, where do they get that sort of traction from.
