A bit of fine mature Cheddar, with salted butter, some nice water biscuits and a glass of vintage port would go down beautifully. Never mind all this French stuff - it ought to be on a list of internationally forbidden WMDs. (Weapons of Mass Disgust!)

Maroilles. Livarot. And so on. If you are not of French DNA - it's different from ours - you can't get the stuff near enough to your face to put it in your mouth before passing out from the odour.

I don't know about that. A good Brie or Camembert with some good, fresh French Bread, nice butter, and of course the whole point of the exercise some good wine, is my idea of a good lunch on the patio of my Mum's Devon cottage by the sea. One can have all the benefits of French food w/o the ... having said that, IIRC, the birds over there aren't bad.:kiss:

Now as for English, a good ploughman's lunch with all the extra's and a good real ale isn't that bad either.:ernae:

nr 25 was in a first batch of aircraft recieved by Belgian Airforce

Real ale? Where? I've ordered 70 tins of Boddington's to celebrate the departure of my Master's students. Should be fun. Better than teaching, anyway!

Ignoring the girl part, since my last experience was in 1964 or so, I am sure you can't get real ale outside of Blighty; at least what we call real ale. However I am partial to a can or 2 of Boddingtons. I noticed on my last trip to the UK that there are a heck of a lot of specialists beers now being sold in Sainsburys, etc.; even from India, Thailand and so on! I remember the old days when one would take an old quart screw top bottle to the pub and get it filled up. Not sure you can do that now though.
