No.4 Lady Officer at La Patrouille de France

Charter Member
For the 2009 Season, Patrouille de France No.4 Pilot "Charognard"
will be Commandant Virginie Guillot, 32yo.

Ctd. Guillot have real combat experience in Chad and Afghanistan
theatres of operations and is also the mother of a 2yo son named
Timothé.

As the long tradition dictate it on the Patrouille de France, No.4
Position is always for the next leader of the team.

So, if everyting goes well, for 2010 season, Ctd Guillot will be the
first female leader, No.1 of any National Military Acrobatic Team in
aviation's history.

Well Done La Patrouille de France

Funny that. The Red Arrows announce their first female member just over a week ago, and then the French do something that'll put them effectively 'one better' next year.;)

Seriously, I wish her well as it's a very hard thing to achieve for anybody.

Hewman100 mentionned above :

A Defense Matters French Forum confirmed to me that the nomination
of Commandant Guyot have been made six months ago compared to
the nomination of Flt. Moore made just a few weeks ago.

To be eligible to the No.1 Leader spot of the Patrouille the France you must not only have a minimum of 1,500 Flight Hours on Combat Jets, but to have the Commandant Grade, after being Lieutnant and Captain, have non flying posting on the École d'État Major ( Senior Headquarters School ) and have a full year as No.4 "Charognard" on the Patrouille.

So in this particular case, it is probably the British that have reacted to the French and not the other way around.

Best Regards

If I'd been aware of the French announcement before the Reds one I'd have said something along the lines that The French had got there before us again.:wavey:
