Sorry to take the wind out of your gloom and doom sails but.........
Most of the volatile chemicals weather off of the oil within 24 hours ( the chemicals that readily burn....IE benzine, & naphthalene). Except for the oil immediately around the well, the rest is a mix of weathered oil and salt water and does not burn easily. The tar balls will not burn either, it takes more energy than they can produce to keep them burning.
A hurricane could hurt OR HELP the oil spill situation, depending on a myriad of factors.
