Northrop BT-1 Released

My rendition of the Northrop BT-1 Dive Bomber...

A great Dick Shaw cartoon from the October 1942 "Flying".

Just took it for a flight, Paul. Really nice job on this! Thanks so much for another awesome plane.

Interesting, too. I didn't realize this was essentially the "SBD-0." :) That the XBT-2 went on to become the SBD... Explains the close resemblance!

You know what I think of Pauls work, Honestly it never claims to be somthing it's not, its simple looks good and fly's very well, from day one he has never said I'm a freeware developer that wants anything, he makes it to the extent that he see's fit and gives it to us knowing it may never be the best or win awards, but for me personally I take my hat off to you sir for making aircraft that are bloody lovely to fly and for never backing down to the pressure and long may it continue!! :salute: I really respect you for that!

:applause::applause::applause: Downloading right now Paul, will have to fly her tomorrow though. Thoroughly zapped after a 25-mile bike ride this afternoon and the Super Bowl.

Paul, I think you're gonna force me to get FSX. :d For a long time I've been hoping somebody would make the BT-1 for FS9 but nobody has yet.

Hey Paul,

Did you actually model all those holes into the dive brakes or did you use pure black dots? If they are modelled in, I salute you! that is a ton of work....

Very nice plane! Beautiful work on the ribbing and mesh work.

Thanks, Bill, I used black dots in the alpha channel for the holes in the flaps and dive brake. If I had modeled them I think those parts would have more poly's than the rest of the project!

Best, Paul
