Not able to install AICarriers2 program

Navy Chief

Senior Member
I downloaded the AICarriers2.zip file from AVSIM last night, but am not able to install it, due to a Java runtime error. I went to the Java site to download the latest version, but IT will not install, saying the file is corrupt. Am sure there are several possibilities for the error, but have no idea where to begin.

I did a defrag last night with IOBIT, but that had no effect.

I had a similar error when trying to install it with just FSX sp1, however, FSX Accceleration didn't have any problems with it. I run both FSX versions, which one are you having the issue with?

Well, this is now an obsession for me to fix. You know how it is. Normally, I install something, and with few exceptions, I am able to get things working. Not this time. I have done everything I can think of, including a restore (and reverted back again, because IE didn't work correctly), yet I still get the runtime error when I try to install AI Carriers.

This is maddening.

I recall having had that problem, or a similar one, when I first
installed aicarriers2.

I suggest sending an email to the author or going over to
fsdeveloper.com\forum and ask about this over there.

I think it's a simple solution but I just don't remember what
I had to do to stop the error.

Thanks Paul. Will check on this further!

Chief,

If you have the aicarriers2r2.zip file, it contains an option to do
a manual install which would get you past the setup.exe installer
error. You still need Java JRE 1.5 or later to be installed.

Simply copy the included folder 'AICarriers' from the 'Manual_Install'
folder to any place you wish.

Then create the file EXE.XML that will place a menu item on the
FSX inflight menu bar. I am attaching my EXE.XML file that you
can use by simply editing the "Path" line to reflect the correct
path to where you placed the "AICarriers" folder. Remove the ".txt"
extention which I had to add to attach it to this post.

The EXE.XML file should be placed in the "Documents and Settings\user\
Application Data\Microsoft\FSX" for WinXP.

If you already have an EXE.XML file, then edit it to insert the
the lines between "Launch.Addon" and "/Launch.Addon"
of my file into your existing file. ( edit the "Path" )

If you have an existing EXE.XML file that only contains the 4 lines
which are the same as the first 4 lines of my file, then just use my
file after changing the "Path" to reflect your folder location.

NOTE: In my "Path" I named my folder "AI Carriers" with a space
whereas the manual install folder is "AICarriers" without a space.

Your instructions worked perfectly, Gypsy; thanks!!!!!!!

Did a short final with a Razbam Intruder, and snagged a wire first time!
