Not All Airshows End In Disaster.

We went to the Memphis Air Show yesterday at the former NAS Memphis in Millington TN yesterday and had a great time. Mostly jets but I somehow managed to not overdose on kerosene. The usual gamut of performances including Fed Ex 777 flybys (big sucker), a F-16/F-4 Phantom Heritage flight, Canadian CF-18 flying performance, Heavy Metal Jet Team (L-29s & a MiG 17), a Navy Legacy Flight (F/A-18 & F4U Corsair) and of course the Blue Angels (probably the 50th or so time I've seen them). Ground exhibit aircraft was a mix of military aircraft and Fed Ex aircraft. Several Navy aircraft the the 100th Anniversary retro paint schemes.

Mrs Willy has most of the pics on her camera and I'll try to get some from her when she unloads them. I was going to take a bunch with my cell phone, but it's camera got to acting up on me after I took a couple of a P-3 Orion in an early WWII paint scheme. I did talk to the guy sitting out on the wing and he said that they were flying back to Jacksonville FL right after the show.

All and all a great time was had by everyone.

News reports just making me more angry..... today was news that the plane was redesigned for speed and not stability..... DUH!!! They make it sound like a crime. :a1451:

There is a reason they is a sign posted on entry to the airshow.... that you can get hurt. True aviation fans know this and accept it.

Thank you for the report, Willy! I'm glad you and your wife had a great time at the event. Please post more photos when/if you get the chance! I'm a big fan of those retro schemes on our current Navy aircraft.
