Hi,

I have a new machine for about a month now ( i9-14900K, RTX 5080 OC, Corsair 64GB DDR5-6000 kit, a.o.) and i think i'm not happy with the noise that the 'DeepCool LQ360' makes when MSFS2024 is running. It's almost like a storm.... Stays that way too no matter what's on display. Never heard such racket with my old system when MSFS2020 or 24 is running.

Is anyone perhaps familiar with this 'DeepCool LQ360' watercooling installation ?...

It's only running MSFS or a game like Transport Fever 2 that the cooling fans go pedal to the metal. I remember from the beginning of running FS on my old puter about 6/7 years ago that kind of the same thing happend. Annoying noise produced by the cooling system. However not to such extend that i needed to wear my headphones to block out most of it. A guy from the shop managed to change something in the cooling system's settings so that the noise became easily bearable. I was wondering if that might be possible with this "DeepCool LQ360" thing as well ?

Is it 'normal procedure' to start messing about with your cooling system if the level of noise is not to your liking ? Is it überhaupt possible to find a reasonable average between cooling CPU/GPU and the level of noise ?

Thanks for any cool insight/hits & tips !

My mainboard (Asus) has an 'Easy' BIOS setup option where you can simply select 'Performance', 'Normal' or 'Eco' and the BIOS automatically adjusts everything (including fan speeds) accordingly when you select 'Save & Exit'.

You should monitor your temps during flightsim. If they're too high, then that is the reason why the thing goes overdrive. Have your tech guy check if the cooling paste between the cooler and the CPU is sufficient. If they're not too high, then it is a setting in the software of that watercooling thingy. If the software for it isn't installed, you should.

And Tiger's right. Check the settings in the BIOS as well.

Cheers,

Jan

My GPU fans go crazy when MS2024 runs. Everdently the sim is very hard on computer resources.

Thanks very much, guys !

I have a ASRock Z790 PG Lightning (CPU Socket) motherboard.

@ Jan : Oh, yes, temps are reaching the danger zone when MSFS is running, 60 upto 90 sometimes...... I call Mike about the cooling paste. Thanks Jan !

I know the BIOS only from when my machine breaks down (happend a zillion times over 40 years of computer sadness.... ;-), only 'saving without change'. In 'Power Setting' 'Power Delivery Profile' there are 3 choices BIOS Default, Performance and Baseline Mode. Currently it's at 'Automatic' so i left it at that. The "CPU Cooler Type" also has several choices : Auto, Aircooling (1 Fan), 120-140mm Liquid Cooler (2 Fans), 240-280 or 360-420mm (3 Fans). Like with the BIOS it is also set at Auto.

I suppose i'd better not change anything in the BIOS and CPU Cooler Type ?....

@ Tiger : do the cooling fans change speed/sound between Performance, Normal and Eco, Tiger ?.... I mean, does the sound become annoying when you f.i. select Performance ? What is the highest temp you experience during an MSFS run ?....

@ John : are you Ok with the noise that the fans make, John ?... Did you try changing options of your cooling system to maybe lower the noise ?..

I know more about the cooling paste tomorrow.

Thanks a lot again, gentlemen ! :encouragement:

I had a similar experience with my not so new system Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX and i13900K and "be quiet! Pure Loop 2 FX+ AiO water Cooler. My solution was Fan Control, which lets me adjust the noise. Modern intel cpu's generate a lot of heat, more than ever before. I also thougth about getting a better AiO cooler with 3 radiators, but that's probably not a noise reduction. I also realized cooling performance is hardly shown with this gear, although it is the most interesting part for coolers.

60° isn't a problem really. 90° is nearing the danger zone, but still. Like @blaunarwal said, the latest chips generate a lot of heat. Ideally it shouldn't go over 80°.

Hope you'll get it sorted.

I have mine set to Eco, which is the quietest setting of the three, but mainly because it's the only setting in which the damn thing will sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity which is an important feature to me.
My rig has three case fans, two in front and one at the rear, one small Intel CPU fan, and two GPU fans which I'm sure are the loudest of all. Here are the stats from my nVidia App with MSFS2024 running at EGNM Leeds Bradford with FSLTL traffic:

The PC is on the desk to my right, and the fans are not loud enough to require raising my voice at all.

Thank you all once again, guys !

Just returned from a AnyDesk session with my tech guy Mike. He installed two proggy's with which the whole cooling system can be set to your liking in great detail. The result certainly is a step in the right direction ! The sound is less loud overall and not constant anymore which it certainly was before and also the most annoying part. I would've wanted more but i am already very happy with this result. Not only the sound is less the CPU stays much cooler too ! Used to fluctuate around the 80's now it does so around the 70's, usually in the 60's. And that's above London ! And talk about the 80's, that's where my FPS is at !!! Holy Moly, never seen that before ! Never thought i'd ever see it !! :love:

@ Blaunarwal: my new machine is also build into this "Be Quiet !" case. I can say i've been looking at it with furrowed brows during this past week: "Come on now, really !???....."

I have learned this evening that there are 7 fans inside this case and another 2 CPU coolers. The speed can be set to all of them seperately thru this neat 'Fan Control' proggy. I have seen my tech guy play around with that so maybe i'll give that a whirl myself later.

Gentlemen, thank you all very much again ! I think i know a lot more about this cooling stuff now. And quite happy with the result thanks to you ( and Mike ! ;-)

Cheers,
Jan
