Hi all,

I's got a question? Some aircraft sim manufactures do not use the standard FSX controls for some functions in the cockpit (in some cases a lot of the functions) like the heading bug, is not controlled so that I can use the Saitek Auto Pilot unit's heading dial to adjust the heading. Is there a know cure for this seemingly unnecessary way of doing things, other than having to use the dial in the virtual cockpit? Takes the fun out of having cockpit hardware......:mix-smi:

If you have FSUIPC and can determine the L:var they used, you can program a macro to assign to a key or button.

Ya I have FSUIPC paid version. So where can I find these codes and how do I use them.

David

Very often you can determine what is being sent to FSX by using the logging feature in FSUIPC and clicking on the object in question. The codes that are displayed by the logger can then be looked up in the FSX Codes document that came with FSUIPC and assigned to a button using the pull down in the FSUIPC Configuration program.

I have also had some luck looking into the gauge xml code that controls the various gauges to determine what L:vars are used and programmed them to a button using macros in FSUIPC. The use of macros is described in detail in the advanced users manual but is very easy to do.

Keep in mind that often the event are going to be pouring in rapidly so you may have to hit the object and turn off the logging quite fast so it does not scroll out of the buffer.

Play with the logging in FSX windowed mode and it will make more sense. Click things then look up the codes logged to get a feel for what is happening under the hood, so to speak.

This program is suppose to be able to do what you want also. I use it to maintain my liveries. It is the best program I have found for that but have not tried the functionality of key mapping so can't tell you how easy or effectively it works. But I will tell you the developer is extremely responsive to requests for support.

Thanks for the info. I've downloaded FSXcontrols and next week I will look into it to see if I can understand it all.
