I knew the man on a first name basis, became friends with him in the early 80s when he was Editor for Car & Driver. I took photos for a journalist friend of mine, who had three articles published in C & D. He was a good man, the automobile world will miss his scribing.

C&D was a decent magazine under his stewardship, not quite up to the R&T standard at the time but pretty close.
