• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

I check this place every now because they sometimes have stuff you can't get anywhere else. Every new year it takes 2-3 months to get things going there. I have been checking for the usual bust out of 2011 uploads until today. Now I get the 'page cannot be found' death notice. Have they been hacked too?

They lost there server and all files. They have to start all over like we did at SOH.
 
I always understood them to be not the most upstanding host site.... I might be wrong. Didn't they at least used to host files w/o the permission of the original author?

Yep and as far as I'm concerned, good riddance. They had a bunch of my old stuff on there and wouldn't take it down.

Yep, same here, and they didn't seem to care where they got it, or whose it was. In some cases they would even strip the readme of any pertinent info (like the developers name and contact info), to make it appear like they had done all the work. If they lost everything. . .it couldn't have happened to a better group.:salute:

Oh well, the website is back "up" sort of... Lot's of missing images, and downloads from the remote server seem to be broken as well...
 
That's too bad that they would hose people like that. I had no idea so hope I don't have anything that was altered.
 
There was another one that I can't remember the name of off the top of my head that was the same way with freeware, but would charge money for a membership to download it. I went around with them for quite a while trying to either take my stuff down or give me a cut of the action. They never did either.
