Now that my early Med install is working...

Good afternoon,

Working on my early Mediterranean install, I decided that too many ships are the most likely culprit of my problems. I noticed when I installed the Beirut scenery, along with Jean Bomber's Afnor Part I, his unreleased Part II, and Bruno's Malta that they include ships and anti-aircraft guns in their scenery.

So, I went through these GSL files with GSL edit and removed ships and AA guns, placing them in a separate layout file to be used in mission builder, so I can go back and delete the unnecessary ships. Then, I used the edited layouts and make them back into GSL.

The ships wouldn't sink, and the guns wouldn't fire if they were left in the GSL file.

My question is...would there be any interest in making them available to the CFS2 community?

Yes please! I have a new core i7 computer and Malta still slows it to a slideshow so this might help a lot.

only sheeps?

Dear Rami, I think you're right about the variety of sheeps cause problems, I have installed the Mediterranean according to your instructions, but I had to uninstall some gsl (provided by u) that cause I could´nt destroy objects. but I understand that this could happen only to me because everything I have I already installed.

Hello Rami!
Yes, please make them available! Since the ships don´t sink and the guns don´t fire, they shouldn´t be in the gsl Better to add them through layouts.

Thanks for all your work!

Yes please Rami!

After all we´ve seen from you I´m thinking that in the near future we´ll see another update of your med campaigns.

Discus,

Actually, no. The Med campaigns I've done this year (Hellas, Heinkels, Fleet Air Arm, Malta Spitfire, The Tuskegee Airmen - in partnership with Devildog73, and Beaus in the Sand) are up to a standard I'm comfortable with, I won't be messing with them.

Anyway, here it the revised Beirut by Ravenna and Voyager. The only change in the attachment is that the GSL file just contains the infrastructure, the ships, vehicles, and AA guns are contained in the LAYOUTS folder.

The GSL scenery still needs to be modified to fit Rhumbaflappy's new watermasks!

(I'd like to see someone else take a stab at that, frankly!)

Good afternoon,

Here is Gibraltar, 1943. This one became quite interesting, because it turns out that Jean Bomber never put many of the airfield objects into the GSL file. So when I put together this package for you with the revised GSL and layout files, I integrated the airfield objects into the GSL file, and combined the AA guns, ships, and the parked aircraft into one layout file.

All of the individual GSL files have been combined into one, but remember, this is for the 1943 version of Gibraltar only, the 1940 version will constitute a separate upload.

This is based on this install package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/page.php?lloc=downloads&loc=downloads&page=info&FileID=15081

Good evening,

And finally, here is Gibraltar, 1940.

In this version, I renamed a few objects in the layout file that were not as they were when you download them, and I also changed a few ships to those that are in more common use.

All of the individual GSL files have been combined into one, but remember, this is for the 1940 version of Gibraltar only, the 1943 is in a post before this one.

This is based on this install package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforum...o&FileID=15081

I hope this provides better frame rates for all of you, so enjoy!

Good evening,

Not to draw attention to myself here, but I would like to know what the general consensus was with these modifications. Should these be made permanent, or not? Did you notice any kind of improvement in frame rates, or appreciate the enhanced, combined GSL and layout files?

I would just like a wee bit of feedback to see how these worked out...

I´m out of spare time for CFS2 this month (and probably the next) so, although I´m eager to try this new GLS, and I have already DL them, I couldn´t. I´m also having problems with each of my installs. I can´t start MB in any one, so I´m working on that. May be this GLS will help to solve the problem in MED!

Rami,

My tower PC here at home gave up the ghost while on my last assignment. Can't help with any feedback at the moment, but thanks for these updates. I've got them in my library (HD backup) and I'll get to them as soon as I can.
