'Nuclear Bomb Tests'

Re: Nuclear Bomb Tests

Naismith,

Interesting site, I grew up during those tests. There are pictures of the clouds at
night with Las Vegas in the foreground. Very scary time period. Do you remember the Cuban
Missile Crisis?

Probably featured in the atomic bomb movie "Trinity and beyond". There was quite a lot of public opinion against the tests after a while (South Pacific area), with the U.S. and France blowing the things up in our back yard, people didn't want to be giving birth to 2 headed babies.

Trinity and Beyond now on Netflix. Just released....fascinating and scary.

Grew up seeing this, in movies and videos and pictures, now we can see how destructive the new bombs are in declassified videos and pictures.

This all still is very troubling to me..
Pity that any of this was ever developed..

I realize that when this was being worked on during the war , it was a means to a end..

But the cat is out of the bag, and one will never get it back in..

The power of these things to me, still is very frightening..

So is "Radio Bikini", a documentary about the Bikini Atoll test, that was nominated for an Academy Award.
It had a lot of unseen footage.

It is also available now on Netflix.
Both are interesting documentaries worth viewing.
