• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Just O/T. On my kitchen table... Which here in France, makes it extra-special! I thought you might find it of interest...

I would have gressed it as a bottle of Mead, :jump:
But Ale, aged over a burning witch, would add a interesting flavor..:jump:

No, it's recognising individual words perfectly well; what it's not doing is understanding which words you are actually using. People do not understand the words themselves so much as select between the ideas on offer according to the context. Computers are not very good at that.

"Way" has been understood here as meaning "manner," such as in the song "My Way." It didn't understand "in my direction," which is what you actually meant. The word took its meaning from the context, but the computer missed it. Equally, "some" was read as meaning "some people" or "some things" which when used alone, it often does mean. It didn't get as far as "some of that."

If you'd said, "Send some of that in my direction," it might have got there in the end. Google translator is very good at one-word-one-concept translation... :)

LoL! You can't have Bovril with beer! We used to put a couple of spoonsful of Marmite in with the wort when we made our own though. Adds yeastiness and a bit of colour. That was a pint...
