I am going to backup the files from the site today. Later today I will backup the database.

I am not sure how the backup will affect the site. You might notice some slowness.

I,too, wondered when I saw "server too busy" msg. Seemed an odd time to be doing admin stuff.

Felt better when I saw the backup msg, which told me it was real and not an attack of some sort.

I, of course, never saw the posts which would have put all fears to rest.

It's a lot of work to keep this place going, and I for one appreciate it.
 
We are only as good as our backup's.
Over the years we downloaded to our home computers, then to our other server, now since we are at 155 GB's we are doing this to a new hard drive on this server, because it is faster to do it this way.

I for one would like to see this daily/weekly, now that the balk is moved the little update will only take a small time to do.
 
Admins:

Just change the message to something like:

"The site is being archived at this time. Please bear with us and we will be back later. Thank you."

I think we all understand the need for this. Just let everyone know that it is in progress and the site will return when it is finished.
