odd ball question

i got to thinking about helicopters and offshore ops.....my question is....what flight level do they use? do they have to climb to say 10,000ft or even 15,000....or do they stay down 2000-5000ft?

From a quick scan through google it looks all low altitude. Below 3000ft is the common phrase with one as low as 300ft.
