Odd Message starting MAW

Haven't run MAW in a while and have made no changes to it. However, after clicking on the MAW Standard Mode icon, I have received the following error message:

"Normal: Normal.exe-Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point objectfromLresult could not be located in dynamic link library OLEACC.dl."

After shutting down the message, MAW does start. Also, starting MAW from the cfs3.exe application does not produce the error message. But I am wondering whether this message represents a bigger issue.

Any help would be great.

You're not the first to report this.

OLEACC.DLL is the legacy file which must be deleted from a CFS3 installation to use CFS3 multiplayer in Windows 7. Some Vista users are also deleting it for the same reason (not sure if that's essential) so there may be a minor conflict between it, the Vista/Win7 versions and MAW.

In any event, ignoring the message lets you run MAW so it's not really a problem imo.

Thanks. I removed the file. No error message now.

What puzzles me though is that I have been running this install of MAW for years and this is the first time the error popped up. Wonder what happened.

Probably a recent update to Vista, if you allow these to run as a matter of course (I do). The same will probably be true with Windows 7 (which I use).

In case you're wondering, OLEACC.DLL was included with Windows 98 Second Edition and all other versions of Windows since then and is used by CFS3 during multiplayer sessions. It wasn't present in the original version of Windows 98 so MS included it in CFS3 so those users could still run the sim.

OLEACC.DLL (as supplied with Windows) has got bigger since then and finally lost its compatibility with Win 98 for good with Windows 7. Conflicts with the version in the CFS3 folder are why we originally couldn't fly online in Windows 7 until Tailwind found the cure. By deleting the version supplied in the CFS3 folder, the sim had to use Windows' own version - which still works fine with CFS3!
