You asked for it :costumes: ....

70 Squadron

Dear mother,

I hope you are well. Have you heard from Pater ? I'm writing to inform you I've just been posted to North Weald airfield north east of London where we await further instruction on Sopwith's new 2-seater scout. She's a little beaut ! The hun's got nothing like her. I'm itching to get over to France before the war ends and give those huns a bit of what for !

But in the meantime I have to continue instructional training. Today we begin formation flying. The instructor's not a bad chap but he's 24 so the fella's think he's past it and should be put out to pasture !

Oh there goes the klaxon ! Better finish up here as our training exercise is beginning ! Please don't worry about me. I'm being careful and not doing anything stupid. Besides, this Sopwith kite is so easy to fly I feel completely safe in her. Looking forward to giving those huns hell. All my love to you.

You loving son,
Victor Armitage

As much as i appreciate that ppl are posting videos like this i always ask my self why they torture ppl with their horrible taste in music.:barf:
Merely every video in youtube containing flics of games i am interested in is buggered up because the creators thought their "soundtrack" is cool (in most cases horrible stupid techno beats).:banghead:
No offense catch! Nice video!! (except for... you know what).:ernae:

Yeah Catch, no offense intended at all in saying that you're taste in music sucks. Really rotten eggs. And no offense meant when I say how tortured I am to be subjected to it by you. No offense man, but you must be tone deaf to like that music. Really, I'm sure you're not offended when I say that the vid is nice, but if you like that music then you must be a horrible person. :banghead:

In all seriousness, excellent vid Catch, and I must have horrible taste in music, too, because I rather enjoyed the music.

Man, P3 looks gorgeous.:applause:

Hi Guys,

Catch nice video man, I must be a horrible person to, as I really liked the sound track :)

regards Rob.

PS but agree with BadKarma, techno stuff is crap :)

Beautiful vid Catch. Another winner. I loved the formation flying bit. Also good to see some fair weather flying for a change. Keep em coming, my mouth is dry from anticipation of P3 (and from drooling over the vids too much)

PS.How could you lie to your poor little mother like that? Not doing anything stupid, huh?:costumes:

Lol thanks guys. No offence taken BadKarma. You are entitled to your opinion. I have a restricted musical collection in my current circumstances and try to use it to convey a mood, an atmosphere and yes perhaps a little cheekiness at times. I'm well aware the music is not contemporary to the times and certainly not always "cool" but always hope it adds a certain "feel" to the video that is otherwise unobtainable via silence or using in-game sounds only.

So things are unlikely to change ;)

Great vid catch! I loved the passings under the bridge :applause:.
You seem to have a nice rig over there..what are your system specs?

Hey BadKarma fraps is free lets see you step up to the plate and do something better .

As usuall Catch22 a very enjoyable film and I think the choice of music is excellent , mood setting even , keep up the good work .
My dad ripped the fabric on the wing of a tiger moth during pilot training in ww2 , he was charged with damaging his majesty's aircraft , but nothing came of it so you'll be ok :)

cheers

You know, that's the first authenticated case of British crows attacking British planes.
Most British crows are quite patriotic and restrict their pecking activities to huns, but I'm sure there that one or two got carried away!.
No doubt the C.O. will see it that way if it is properly put to him. You could emphasize to him that, in fact, if he made an official report of this to the RSPB, his efforts to promote such a wonderful organization would no doubt lead to national recognition.

Unfortunately, for me also, there is a current craze, not least among television broadcasters and including Youtube entrepreneurs, to bombard our ears with wretched junk "musak", noticeably with mindless drumming over the top of commentary and dialogue whether its relevant or not.
Normally its not.
A wretched cacophany which only deserves the mute button. I feel so mad about this practise I wonder if, should BHAH force this upon us, whether I'd bother to shell out when the time comes. Please, if you like this din, don't force it on everyone else. Let's hear the sound of the planes and the yells of success but not that racket over and over again.

Easy there young fella, smooth your feathers. If you fly somewhere Between Heaven and Hell on authentic, all you will hear is the sound of your own engine. And then, nothing, as that bullet with your name on it ends everything :pop4:

Cheers,
shredward

This absolutely made my day. Great video. Music was perfect and made for a great overall, mood enhancing composition. I smiled all the way through. And there's no need to have to "explain" to those youngsters who don't understand. :jump:

Absolutely top notch work....I'd like to know if you please, what your Track IR profiles are.....this is the first vid I've seen that didn't look, well...."twitchy".....the reason I gave away my first TIR set here on SOH was that I couldn't get used to the views darting all over the place....my own lack of perseverence no doubt. So....is it amazingly Zen head discipline that keeps your view so clean and steady.....or dead zone profiles I might be able to live with???? Love to do TIR again for P3....this is the best look I've seen so far........Cheers, gaw

Gousgounis:

Specs are ....

9800GTX 512MB
E8400 dual core 3ghz
Asus P5Q mobo
Antec 900 case (fans, fans and more fans !)
Thermaltake 750w power supply
4GB PC2-8500 1066MHz DDR2 RAM (3.25 recognised)
500GB 7200RPM Drive
Soundblaster X-Fi soundcard
XP Pro 32bit

Gaw:

Zen head discipline is a factor lol ! I use my own profile which just involved a bit of experimentation. A slightly rising concave curve. However, others are quite happy with the default combat profile. I have smoothing on 20 and a smallish/medium deadzone .... enough to know when you've "slotted" into the zone. It's important to set up "tracking" before flight (3 green lights centred) and "gauges" are aligned. The default F12 centering button is mapped to button 5 on my stick.

Trackir really is a must to experience the full joy and immersiveness that OFF provides. Glad you guys enjoyed the vid !

Catch- great music! ..but the video stinks

...just kidding of course. Great job..I too likethe music..who the singer, song on the first part?

Roycey, the first song is sung (and written) by an Aussie singer/songwriter by the name of Russell Morris. The song is called "Wings of an Eagle" recorded in the early 70's. His most famous recording was "The Real Thing" a psychedelic hit in the late 60's.

The 2nd song "Oh Babe What Would You Say" was written by Norman Smith, a musician and producer who worked frequently with The Beatles and Pink Floyd. He had originally written it for another artist but was persuaded to release the demo for which he had provided the vocals, and the song, under his stage name Hurricane Smith in 1972. I'm sure he did it as a joke with tongue firmly in cheek but it became a surprise hit ! I like it because it takes me back to my first (but not last) stumbling efforts at romance with my first real girlfriend as a puny adolescent lol. Some songs you never forget. The world needs songs like that !
