OFF Phase 2 Music

I just listened to WQXR, a New York classical music station which runs public radio broadcasts. The program, I believe, is called Exploring Music. Although I did not catch the introduction, clearly the piece being played was the OFF theme, a wonderful work.

I was under the impression that the OFF theme was an original piece of music for the game. In fact, I thought read that in this forum. Can anyone tell me if this is so or is the theme taken from another work? Thanks.

Theme music is a classical piece called Adagio for Strings

The Theme piece is a classic by Barber call Adagio for Strings.

Well actually there are several tracks in there. The main theme you first hear (in the intro movie if you still have that enabled) and in the main menu is by Wolfgang Mittendorfer exclusively for OFF.

And yes the other is a paid for version of Adagio for Strings by Barber.

Other supporting tracks are by Matt Milne who allowed us to use his music.

Phase 3 has main tracks written by Matt specially for us.

There is also a pack of 78 RPM record recordings for OFF floating around somewhere-- period tunes from the war era.
