OFF Phase 2 Problems

Hi guys i just got my copy of OFF and all has gone well till i ran OFF.
Im running Vista 64
CFS3 runs and plays fine
When i start OFF its starts off in 800x600. No amount of running the config tool in OFF folder changes anything.
And that is the problem right there. The ONLY button i see is multiplayer and no other buttons. It comes up with a error to click on workshop then manual install or what ever.

As i have stated i cant see that button only the Multiplayer button that covers the length of the bottom of the screen. Is there a way i can FORCE the rez via manual editting?

Cheers

Regards
Mike

CFSConfig tool is nothing at all to do with OFF Manager resolution.

You need to make sure you set your desktop to 96DPI and try that.

Q. Cant get past the OFF intro movie (sepia coloured) no buttons at bottom of screen?

A. Go to your desktop and right click on it somewhere, select display properties. Click Advanced. Change the DPI settings from 120 (or whatever) to 96

Ok i looked at my Desktop DPI and it is at 96 (Which is Standard)
Still getting oversized Splash Screen and the LONG multiplayer button and nothing else to click on.

Regards Mike

It appears the Splash screen with the buttons isnt resizing if that helps

What's your desktop res set at ? What's the res in cfs3config set at ? Weird with one long multiplayer button across the bottom though. Screwed up/corrupted install perhaps ?

These pics were taken AFTER the intial install no patches etc, but the same problem with the other installs (full/all SP's and additional packs)

Resolution=1680x1050
Ive tried other resolutions even disabling my duel monitor setup. Result=Same :(
Im wondering if the OFFManager is stuffed or something. 28meg file

What interests me, and sounds like it's worth a try. Is the STICKY about installing on Vista 64 #4 by Pageturner where he put CFS3 to a higher resolution PRIOR to installing OFF. If that works it'd be a HOME RUN

Nope that didnt work...Im thinking i might give in to it.

I was thinking of getting Phase 3 but if im running into these kinda problems with this one i dont want to throw my money. Thxs for the help.
Additional: The installer ran fine no errors what so ever. So i dont know.

I have a thought. Maybe the OFFManager is corrupt. Would some be kind enough to .rar theres up and upload it to rapidshare or something please?

Hang in there havoc. Looks like you got a lot going on there if you're directing it to the H drive ! Perhaps try another path ? But then I don't know much about vista (let alone 64bit vista) and wouldn't touch it in a fit personally so I'm of no help. Maybe someone else with 64bit vista experience will assist. It could be something really simple as these things usually turn out to be .... it's just finding that simple thing that's the problem lol.

Well again thxs guys for the help... Ive tried for over 4 hours to get it to work with 8 reinstalls. Something tells me to move along. So again thxs for the advice.

Cheers

Keep in mind P1 & P2 were done before Vista was around. The OFF guys are billing this as a vista 64 compatible build, and tested as such. I have been running P2 on vista 64 for quite awhile and while I have not had your problem it has been a bit quirky at times. All I'm saying is don't throw in the towel on P3 due to problems with P2.

Good luck.

Try going to the directory where you installed OFF (H: as I recall). Find the folder, should be Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields. Look for the file OFF.bat. Open the file and look for the following (substitute letter H for D):
Code:
D:
cd D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\
shell.exe
Does your OFF.bat file look exactly like that? If not, must be a problem with the install. Try a "lower" drive letter like C: or D:

P1 and P2 were not released as Vista compatible - P3 is.

However many have managed to get P2 running on Vista - there are a few tricks - check out the FAQs.

You must run the app in administrator mode and you can also select it as XP compatible that often helps.

To see these options in Vista right click the desktop OFF Icon.

Well the problem isnt trying to make it start. The problem is where im unable to see the workshop button at all. Please refer to the pics i posted.

If i can see the workshop button im sure it can work.

1st error is the problem anything after that is the last of your worries.
What graphics card btw?

Hi, Mike
My advice ain't technical but emotional:
1. watch the preview movies from the OFF main page.
2. don't resist the urge to get P3 for yourself

P3 is MADE to run on VISTA - so why get frustrated, instead of REALLY taking off? (Just my opinion - but I understand, when you don't want to give up easily).
Wish you all the luck.
Olham
