Am going to attempt to install p3 and get it up and running. If succesfull, will post ip and host a game.

hopefully, missions created for off2 will still run in off3

Hey guys! you might not want to mod your OFF P3 just yet. We should play P3 as a stock game online for awhile until more people get the game and some of the MP bugs are worked out.

I will be ordering my copy in 1 week so it won't be to long and I will join you online.
 
Knock the sliders down one on terrain and scenery if you have anywhere to go SITTINGDUCK?
Celeron may not be quite up to it but worth a shout.

Yes, i set all to 1 except aircraft, which i set to 3

But, as long as on the subject, is it safe to assume that the overides that are suggested for off2 also apply to off3 (ie deselect dual pass render, etc, etc).

And axe, Yes, i aggree. Hopefully i can get off3 up and running on something around here, would hate to run into all sort of conflicts with the mp portion.
 
Hey Duck...What CPU socket does your motherboard use?... the Celeron's came in Socket 478 I believe. My previous rig used an Intel 3.0 GHz Socket 478 Pentium and ran P2 quite well on moderate settings. Yikes that's low, yes pretty much. P3 is higher res, more aircraft, more textues etc but more optimised - but given it is 1.5 years on from P2, maybe worth looking at upgrading one or two components.

Yes, 478. And, have been considering going to 3.0 or higher.

There is evidence maybe my video card is on the fritz. I could i suppose put off3 on another computer, and see how it runs, but want to keep one off2 installation intact so I can still do mp with the "unfortunates" like me who may be running it for a while.

I do have a few socket 775 boards here w/o processors or memory.(unfortunatly all dell pulls) At least one of them is pci-e. Might just take a chance and spring for parts and see if any of them work.

But, I have no complaints about off2, still a great game.

OK yeah try the other PC, if you get chance to upgrade a few bits at some point would help you see more of the quality in there too, more enjoyable.
