Official Cape-to-Cape Event Registration

Got an idea Paul ...

How 'bout I take the 310 and then you only have to flip a coin.

Pretty good idea, huh?

:wavey:

Each one is thought provoking .... hmmm

Great idea! ... umm, ok wait... :icon_lol:

I'm tempted to the take the Cessna. The little one. That would be "interesting", hehe. That MILVIZ 310 is a sweet ride, no question about it. All the goodies inside too, so I can't get lost! The Aerosoft DHC-6 is just fun. Plus I made that paint for it because I use to ride in the back of those planes, from that airline, when I was a bit younger! The Twin Otter is not much faster than the [little] Cessna though...

Nice Lockheed, MM... :)

Yes indeed Paul ... I have to second that!

Thread stacked up quickly before I could reply.

You guys may have outdone yourselves with this event.

A superb mix of both pilots and aircraft as well as what looks to be a fine collection of story lines when all is said and done.

Best of luck to us all!

The GAS Lockheed Model 12 was my first thought, but this event, set in the 30's, just had me going for something in GW3. The Heinkel, not real fast, not long range, but a great flyer. Will be a great time.

Got my eye on you in the Doppelblitz Robert ... took it out for a few "spins".

You'll have more to write home about when we get to Cape Horn.

I really appreciate all of the different aircraft in this event ... thanks for puttin' on the "show".

You will have an audience to be sure ... Good Luck Sir!

Hey All,

It is a rare event where I can fly one of my favorite turboprops! Kudos to the organizers!
Having flown very little in the last year or so I had to see if I could still figure out how to fly this thing so I gave her a shakedown flight and flew from Nanaimo to Billings and survived!

I'll join Jeff in my choice of aircraft.

Welcome Ed!

Ok, for the northbound run I have decided on the Cessna 310 by MILVIZ (sorry Austin! :)) I'll be back in a month, after I read the manual... :icon_lol:

Golden Age registration

Hi all,

Sounds like a great event!! I would like to fly Milton Shupe and friend's spectacular Spartan Exec for FSX.

Good luck to all,
Brian

I've thought about it and thought about it some more and just can't do it. Can't leave my Twin Beech behind on one of these events.

Switching from the Sikorsky S43 to the Milton Shupe Beech 18 Cargo Amphibian in my Merc Air paint.

Restarting at Hammerfest.

Hehe. I thought of switching to the Ju-52 and restarting! Hows the new computer working out..?

FS9 is like a whole new sim with my favorite aircraft already installed. I locked the frames at 25fps for multiplayer and it rarely bobbles below 24.8fps. I'm loving it! Thanks again!!

Old aircraft ... especially a favorite ... and a new computer ... yeah.

Much better than the other way around huh?

Congrats Willy enjoy!

I'll be flying the Gamma 2A "Sky Chief" by Paul Clawson, with a single 785 hp (585 kW)Wright radial engine in the Golden Age Class.

On June 2, 1933 Frank Hawks flew his Gamma 2A "Sky Chief" fromLos Angeles to New York in a record 13 hours, 26 minutes, and 15 seconds.

I've added the sextant and a Duel Band HF Radio and radio compass'.
This could require hand flying throughout the entire event?

E/W wing fillets and landing gear"spats" how could anything go wrong?

No coffee breaks, naps, or timeouts or snacks!!! Perhaps we'll look for an old used Sperry AP laying around in the hanger shop. :blind:

I would like to request a change in the Gamma 2A CFG. file.
It would add a cargo space of 200 lbs for the mail run, locating it behind the pilot's seat.

The original aircraft cfg line is:
station_load.0 = 170, -7.54, 0, 0.98
(this is the pilot's weight and location)

The additional line would read:
station_load.1 = "200.0, -14.5, 0.0, 0.0, Rear Cargo" //Weight, Lat, Lon, Vert Position

The resultant payload would look like this with a total of 370 lbs.

Is this OK?

Tests have shown no increase in performance, in fact adds a slight increase in the AOA, which results in a slightly slower maximum airspeed.
It has added some weight to the tail section, which makes in slightly easier to stop when landing.

If not OK that's OK with me as well.
Just thinking it can't hurt to ask. :)

That's a handy piece of work Dil52!

Have fun on your run .... :wavey:

Thanks Salt,

The "Sky Chief" still requires hand flying!
Although it trims out fairly well in clam and steady wind conditions, it is not nearly enough to read a bed time story! :)
Just so we can grab a cup of Joe, and let the pup out, it'll be a great adventure.

Good luck with that, a-hem "copilot," you have along.

Dil,

I see no issue with adding the small cargo space to the Gamma as it should not affect speed or range in a "+" manner. Good luck Sir.

Thank you sir! Tentively, we'll load her up with mail at Marseille.
The final assembly is complete and all checkouts are being performed for our Cape to Cape Caper at this time.

For the Modern Era, I'll register the AFG B300. Will port it over to FSX if it all works out. (May have to abort this for something slower...or may not have the time. Sorry to say.)
