• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

So SOH received another hacker attack. :crybaby:

I think I was among the suckers who gifted those ***'s:sniper::rocket: with my password, since today, at around 2:40 p.m. local time, I made several attempts to log in.

Each time I got a screen resembling very closely the upload screen of a year or so ago, asking me my username and my pword. Foolishly, I could only think something else had gone wrong since the last server crash and I stubbornly entered them several times.:violent:

Thinking my provider was also at fault, due to unexplainable sudden modem line crashes in the past two weeks, I also called them up and let them have it.

Unfortunately, when I tried resuming the download of some of Uncletgt's great ship skins, I got a screen very similar to the current upload user/password screen.
Therefore, I also tried my upload password. :banghead:

I just edited my old beloved password, but I have no idea about how to change the upload password. Could some staff member help me out with it?

Sorry Rami for bothering you with an "helpme" e-mail, I didn't know better.

I fell for that as well - so I reckon I need the same help - mind you if you've changed your entry p/w( and I have ) the upload p/w should be OK as you've got to log in before you can upload ( I hope )

douglas is in charge of uploads
if you placed it into the bogas login box between midnight and 9:30 this morning than I would say yes have it changed.

but if you did not try and upload something durning this time frame than the upload password is safe.

if you did not even come here between midnight and 9:30 this morning than your SOH password is safe.

Hi Ickie,

I tried logging in around 2:45 pm Central European Time, which is 8:45 am (6 hours earlier) U.S. Eastern Standard Time.

I don't know what time SOH is tuned to, but I am afraid I fell right into the time frame you indicated above.

I did not try uploading anything, but I did enter my personal upload p/w into the bogus login box, which showed up as soon as I tried resuming a download on hold with my Download Accelerator Plus or DAP.

It was my way of testing the connection somehow, so I did a d-d thing (short for double-dumb.......)

How do I get in touch with Douglas, will a PM suffice?

Hope it works out for you. I treied to enter around 0900 EDT USA and got th emessage that resembled a Microsoft screen that said www.simouthouse wants a password and name. I never enter those things especially when I saw nothing in the crawlers.
 
Am I safe?

I have been signed on for months (not a good idea I can hear someone telling me)....would my password be in jeopardy too?

I signed off then signed back on to ask this question, just a few minutes ago....the appearance of the site changed and I have no idea what the home screen looked like years ago....am I still safe??

ARGGGHHHH! I feel like I've been dropped into nomansland without a helmet. EEEEEEEK! :pop4:
 
Contact the Vbulletin and get all over them. They've got to provide better security.

Otherwise, if they can't get with the security program migrate to another forums software. Hope the databases for all the files are separate from the bulletin board for everyone's sake.

The hackers do have a habit of going back to where they know they can create a nuisance.

Ditto. I tried several times around 10pm Australian Eastern Standard Time. I frrl like a goose, but I'll know better next time.

Guilty as charged .I had no idea what was going on and just figured the site was down for some reason.Changing password now.

Yep it got me too. I e-mailed Rami about the problem straight away. Glad it's sorted!
 
Good job changing passwords, guys. I'll be glad when all the little hackers are back in school. The problem is, I'll be teaching some of them.
