Oh, for &%$£@#&'s sake!!!!

Didn't quite escape.
For months I have been fighting with this problem. The models are good, I know they are (Bill Ortis made them, so they're going to be! ;)). The textures are good. They've worked in the past. So why, oh why, oh why, can I not get rid of the shine on the AEC Matadors' mudguards and wheels?

Finally, I think I've found it. The "reflectivity" slider in the material, in spite of the setting level saying "0", is at the top of the scale. So I turn it down. Sure enough, after some poking, it decides that the top is not actually "0", the bottom is. Excellent. Recompile, recreate the library, place some objects using ADEx, go look at them and... huh?! Wha?! Who stole the tanker!?!

The Gun Tractor/GD wagon is showing up as a plain grey untextured model, the tanker has disappeared altogether. Nothing I can do will bring it back. I change materials, I change texture formats, I move the models around, place them in different directories... nothing. Not one single thing I do will make the tractor stop being grey and the tanker appear.

So. Today I'm off work. My back has fallen apart again, I've had next to no sleep thanks to a misbehaving doorbell (which ended up in pieces on the bedroom floor at oh-too-early). After about eight coffees, taking paracetamol and codeine and generally being grumpy and failing to get any sleep for most of the day, I decide to have a poke at ADEx, delete the malfunctioning objects so I can release the scenery I had been testing them in and check that it's all working OK.

Hang on. The directory with the truck models in isn't even enabled in the FSX scenery library. So how am I seeing them? Enable the scenery library entry. Nope. Still no joy. One grey tractor, no tankers at all.

Hmm. OK. Disable all sceneries and re-enable them one by one. Ah. Look. There's a duplicate library in IJP_EGTD\scenery. Disable Dunsfold, go to directory, shift-delete on duplicate library, go away, don't come back. Re-enable the AEC Matadors directory, re-enable EGTD.

Oh look. Trucks. Without shine.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the armpits of that duplicate library for eternity.

I'll stop swearing at some point this week. Promise!

Developing dead tired for FSX is vicious.

I for myself exhaust my swering vocabulary once in a while - over similary "dumb" mistakes such as yours with that library.

But it doesn't matter as long as everything works in the end. :d

I wouldn't mind except that the other hundred and fifty-odd times I've tried to solve this, I haven't been tired and on strong painkillers.

The time when I was totally out of touch with reality is the time I discovered the problem. There's a certain perversity to this which is hard to avoid...
