Flame On!
I finally got my hardware budget proposal passed and ratified by Congress (the Missus) and have the okay to order the necessary hardware to run Phase 3 in "all it's glory". Tomorrow I'm ordering an Intel 3.16Ghz Core 2 Duo E8500, an Antec EA650 650w PSU, and an EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX 768Mb graphics card. After I add that hardware, this is what I'll end up with,

Abit IN9 32X MAX 680i SLI mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.16 Ghz E8500 Wolfdale CPU
Antec EA650 PSU
2 Gb OCZ DDR2 800
EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768Mb
Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500AAJS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card
Windows XP Pro SP3

.............hopefully it will do the job.

way to go

Took me a long time to save and work with the congress, labor department and all that but I built my own rig and have added as I went along. Ibtel core 2 6550 CPU,sli two GT Nvidia 8800 Grafic cards,Artic 900 case with 4 fans.Dell 22 inch Flat panel,500gig HD 600watt powerXFF 680iSLI motherboard,Rheobus easy fan and neon controller,G15 gaming board,Saitek X52 pro flight flight system. Took a lot time, over 8 months to save but well worth the money. Now all I need is Quad core. Also have vista64,which can be a bug at times, and also 4gigs of memory. Almost like looking out the windo.Creative 7.1 surround sound. :isadizzy::isadizzy::isadizzy:

CJ

You are in for a huge treat!.I am very pleased for you.You have been an outstanding supporter of OFFand have given enormous amounts of assistance here on the forum and also by providing DVDs to recipients all over the States. It is only right and proper that you should see P2 and P3 in all their glory and soon you will!

You must have a lovely wife to have authorised that little lot.Since you will be rigged for SLI, why don't you see if she will let you slot in another video card or does that push you onto the thin ice.

Best

Thanks Nio

I'm just doing for others what has been done for me.:applause:As far as the SLI is concerned, the Missus says she's nice, but not that nice!:costumes:

Congrats! No doubt we'll be reading about "Brown Outs" in surrounding areas when you fire up the system! HA! :icon_lol:

For those interested..........

Right now at Newegg.com you can buy a factory recertified EVGA 8800 GTX 768Mb for $128.99 US. That's where I got mine. Guaranteed to function like new. For those of you with limited funds (like me) it might be just the ticket to "all the glory".

Well Catch, I did the upgrade but I don't seem to be experiencing "the power".
Your precious SE5a is still getting it's daily allowance of lead and phosphorous!:costumes:

CJ;
How did you make out with the carpets:costumes: I think you should have offered to shampoo all the furniture as well:173go1:

CJ, Great pics; good to hear you're enjoying the new setup.:applause: If you don't mind, I saw where you had asked Pol to post his settings (I assume to set yours up)...I'm very curious about yours now. Would you mind telling me a few things, please?

- Screen resolution & color depth you're running OFF in?
- Any overclocking on CPU, memory, or GPU's?
- What are settings for graphics (Nvidia control panel-for instance, Anti-Aliasing[AA], Anisotropic Filtering[AF], etc)?
- What are OFF config settings ('sliders', overrides, and texture info)?

If you could post screen caps of the settings, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks!

Polovski posted his settings here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=2207 Mine are the same almost verbatim. I figured I'd try that and see how it worked. Screen res is 1280x1024 which is the max for my old HP CRT monitor. So far it's been great.
Everything is running at stock speeds. Even though my board is known to be an overclocking monster (that's what Abit says anyway) and the E8500 can be easily clocked to 4.25Ghz on air (again, what I've heard), the system does what I want it to do VERY well, so why do anything to risk hard to come by hardware? I am studying up on it though, reading a lot of reviews, tests and such to get an idea what can be done with relative safety. I'm very happy with it. Bring on Phase 3. Can't wait to get my a$$ shot off!
