• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Ok need suggestiions for clouds and water

I assume that it is the REP that changed the environment settings to make many things look nice, but it appears overdone in areas. Flat paint military schemes, textures that are set for no reflectivity etc show plenty now. Is there another that is toned down a bit. ..........snipped

I believe that is the envmap.bmp found in FS9/Texture folder.
I've tried many, but for my eyes, the best was one done by Bob Rivera way back during the A-26 project. The only place it was ever offered was in one of his posts during the project. It also contained a new glass_t.bmp for the nose of the a-26.

If you save lots of stuff, the filename is: Glass Texture and envmap.zip

Bob officially released a couple other envmap.bmp's since. I still like and use the original.

the specs of this particular bitmap are
Size: 65KB
Date Modified: 2/12/2007 7:22am

EDIT: Awww heck.... I'm sure Bob won't mind... here's the zip

Thanks Brent; I will try this environment map before going back to the stock one.

You're welcome. It may be more to your taste.

Make sure an envmap.bmp hasn't been slipped into your ...\Scenery\World\texture folder. It would negate the whole thing.
