What are the causes for not being able to fly in FF and QC? I have checked all of my sound.cfg, none are aliased. All have lawdog's sound packages. I have deleted all CDPs, all Filelist.dats. I have even put the original QC file back in. It still allows me to fly missions and campaigns, but no FF and no Quick Combat. Says my data files are missing or corrupted and need to reload.

I have checked all of the numbers in airbase.dat and they are sequential, with the exception of the original misnumbers from the top of the list from MS.

I know there was an easy fix to this.

My original install works fine.
My ETO works fine.
My PTO and MTO are not.

Me too - somewhat

I have also experienced this in a couple of my installs (I have 12).

(Can't load mission / corrupt)

But hitting the "Fly Now" button a second time loads the FF or QC mission immediately with no further trouble.

About the only place where this is a chronic problem is in V-4-CFS2 V2.0 ..... go figure eh?

As a last resort, I have saved all my important folders, usally at least Aircraft and Scenedb, and delete the install. Reload , then replace the folders one-by-one. If the trouble reappears then you have your problem, if not, at least you have your install back and can write off the problem as one of those "mystery" gripes. Good Luck. :d

Could just be the that you've hit the all-to-common aircraft limit threshold. Dirtman's suggestion should work for you fine (SECOND CLICK USUALLY DOES IT), but if doesn't, trim down your AIRCRAFT folder to the stockers plus just a few addons--not many. If you still can't click thru on Dirty's tip, trim down your SHIPS folder to the stockers only.

If you have additional planes, check the panel.cfg also. I was having that problem and found a add-on plane was aliased in the panel.cfg to one that was removed. Re-directed it and it worked. Now if I can only figure out why the La11 in Foxfour won't load!!

Fibber, I had forgotten to check the panel.cfg.......:banghead:

All, I watch my plane count really closely, so I keep all at 80 or below.
I will be willing to bet it is a panel config issue.
Dadgummed aliasing of stuff by M$ to keep from actually building sound, and panels that are accurate and valid.........thanks Bill Gates.:bs:

That's okay, as I wrote it I was wondering why my La11 wasn't working.:censored: I have several planes aliased by sound and panels. This one wouldn't acknowledge so I put a stock copy in, put lawdogs sounds in and dummy filed the other files. Now the bloody thing works!
