Ok, THIS was a cool toy

Today's kids are mostly interested in computer gaming equipment, i.e. Nintendo Wii, PS2, Xbox, etc....

Can't blame them in a way. Had those been around when I was a kid, I would have wanted one too.

But it is a shame kids now DON'T experience the freedoms we had, when it came to playing outside, etc. So much fear of predators, and other such things, have caused that freedom to be severely curtailed; if not stopped altogether.

Along the same lines of the Aircraft carrier of which I had a later version of, it actually launched aircraft via the catapult. I inherited a large motorized battleship with firing guns and a motorized submarine. They were heap loads of fun on rainy days and when it was too cold to go out and keep the neighborhood safe from the Nazi terrors that inhabited Trion, GA in the early to mid 1970's.

Since we're discussing toys here, I had a lot of fun with a Hubley die-cast plane like this one. Kind of a P-47 with carrier-style folding wings, canopy opened and landing gear worked. Great for strafing green army men! :icon_lol: I still have mine packed away somewhere, and it's not as beat up as the one in the pic.
