:banghead:

I fired up my MB for TF-57 to do some much needed completion of missions for the campaign.

I have to manually start all my aircraft. Only my F4 key works for view changes. No F3 on any aircraft.
No Tactical display switching to target anything except aircraft.
No switching between weapons: bombs, rockets, cannon on any aircraft.

Did something happen to my computer during transit that affected my CFS2?

I even tried running single missions from the main program versus MB, no joy.

I don't even know where to look on this one.......:dizzy:

HELP!

Hi Devildog

just a thought - check your joystick and keyboard settings - maybe they've been corrupted somehow - other than that ????

Devildog,

I've been thinking about this, and am wondering if somehow your MODULES folder got corrupted somehow. You may want to consider replacing the entire folder from a clean installation. Resetting your joystick and keyboard commands would also be an important step.

Replaced the modules folder with fresh pristine Modules folder from CFS2 original.
Same problem.

Checked joystick and keyboard, work in all other installs of CFS2 except my BPF install.

F3 and Tactical display work in all other installs.

E to start engine works in all other installs except BPF.

Getting ready to copy and past clean install cfs2 into new folder move aircraft, ships, missions and scenery.cfg into new folder.

Copy over CFS-2 -- CFG main directory , and then copy over your named key layout , that you saved for your changes

Airport security scanner , nuthing,s safe anymore , Sue Obiwon!!

:icon_eek:......:cower:....my, what a nightmare!

CFS2 can screw up to such levels close to giving anyone an heart attack!

I repeat Sarg's suggestion: copy over the contents of the last CFS2.cfg you are absolutely sure was working fine.

Then go in and edit the sections regarding Free Flight and Quick Combat: in both the planes listed must be present in your \AIRCRAFT folder, in FF also the scenery folders/files listed must be there.

I went through several times the experience of copying my last functioning CFS2 backup over a new, clean install. It usually happens when I have to re-format the HDD.

Each time, my joystick/rudder pedals calibration is still good, but buttons and functions need to be reassigned. In my "Joystick Assignments" window, joystick and rudder pedals result switched around and all joystick buttons have to be reassigned.

I often wondered why it should be this way, since I delete everything of the new, clean install other than the folder structure and Windows Registry entries. But this is how it goes.

Cheers!

Funny you should mention this Kelti , as I was just working on your answer , Which key board layout did you use --Cfs-1 key,s or Cfs-2 key,s , both are in the default location , Aircraft folder at the bottom ,
If you update which ever one your using by writing your assigned key values to these record,s you never have the reasignment problem again ,, These are the DEFAULT return records ,,, Cheers Sarg

Thank you, Sarg!

I came from CFS1, the first time I installed CFS2 I used the CFS1 keyboard layout and never changed it since. Since I started out with FS5 running in DOS, eons ago, it was the obvious choice for me because it's the same layout carried over from the civilian sim. Flaps incremental/decremental (f5-6-7-8), engine startup (E) and undercarriage (G) keys are the same as in FS5.

I then assign free keys to operate the cowl/radiator flaps and J/K to operate the Concorde nose, used by several late models to add animations to the stock ones. I use a Thrustmaster Top Gun USB, the precursor of present day Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X, and a CH aviation rudder pedal board.

I often wondered why I could not memorize once and for all those assignments, because it's a time consuming routine everytime I have to re-install CFS2. My joystick also has rudder control through twisting its handle (which I hate) that needs to be de-activated and the stick locked. Then the rudder has to be assigned to the pedals together with the differential brakes, left and right, allowed by the CH pedal board. Your average pain in the ........:frown-new:

At the bottom of the \AIRCRAFT folder you say? I never noticed it, tonight I'll check it out!

Cheers!
