Went to the city library here in Phoenix and found bound copies of Aviation Week starting in 1957. What fun going though the old issues and seeing ads for connies and DC-7's. Reading old stories about planes in development (707, DC-8, etc) and reading some really old accident reports.

My favorite, although a real tragedy, is a couple flying in a Viscount. He went to the restroom and instead of opening the door on the right he opened the door on the left and was sucked out.

Alcohol was involved.

I just last night read of a similar occurence during an American Airlines flight back in the early to mid 30s. There was a light in cockpit that indictated that the cabin door was open that came on. The pilot looked to check and it was open with a missing passenger. Turned out the guy was drunk and went to the restroom, opening the cabin door by mistake. The difference was that the passenger had made it to the restroom without falling out by the time the pilot was counting heads.
