Oldpropfan C2C - Southbound again

Arrived at Kisumu. Coursed slightly north of east for my first checkpoint, the south end of Lake Albert. That would keep me north of the Ruwenzori Mtns and out of trouble if the weather got bad. Turned southeast at Lake Albert toward Entebbe and once I hit Lake Victoria turned back to east and roughly followed the north shore of the lake to Kisumu. Great weather and vis the whole flight.

On the ground at Nairobi. Managed to skirt the high ground by going a little south of the direct route. Arrived to thunderstorms in the area but vis was still good and found the field no problem. Going to take a little time to fuel up and resupply then it's off to FLMP. I can almost smell the ocean, the end must be close. Or maybe that's just the funk building up in the plane, it's been a long trip and this humidity is killer.

Hit Nylstrom and decided we might just have enough fuel to make so on to Rand it was. Sticked the tanks at the ramp and had a whole 18 gals left:jump:, good thing I didn't have to hold for traffic. Weather has been great these last few legs, hope it holds for the final run into Cape Town.

Great to see you in Cape Town. It's been a pleasure to follow along.

And having you here is another reason to raise a glass and tell a tall tale.

Thank you everyone, it was alot of fun following the trials and tribulations of the other pilots as we all made our ways north or south. I hear tell at the cantina that some are off to try and land perfectly good planes on ships:icon_eek:. Don't think any good will come of that as this page from my LSO logbook shows:

For those that don't know, the WO is a wave off, and the C does not mean average. The C is bad, it stands for cut pass, and means I landed even after the LSO told me to wave off. What does he know though, any landing you walk away from right? I usually claim com failure after those landings:icon_lol:.

Hope to see everyone at the next event, fair weather and following winds till then.

Yeah, LSOs think they know everything! Where did you get that vLSO program? That looks like fun. I could document my bad landings!

Yes! Congratulations on a valiant and successful effort oldpropfan. :wavey: :ernae:

BTW, The olympic committee gave you all 10's across the board on your Cape Town landing. :jump:

Don't be too concerned about those ship landings.

My efforts leave the crews sweeping up nuts and bolts more often than not .
