It is with sad dispair that I account that my own mother-in-law swears there are 52 States in the Union today.... What's worse? She would be in majority... in that a good number of people when asked, say there are 52 states.... I told her I'd give her $100 cash if she could name me all 52...

There are those who consider Puerto Rico, an US territory or something like that, to be a state. And another US territory, can't remember what it is. There was a push a number of years back to officially make them states....as a way to gain more taxes for the federal government.

Guam and Puerto Rico want in. Why not? Puerto Rico needs some serious guidance. Guam gets along fine by itself, but the government there is corrupt.
