I have hunted everywhere to find the source file for the tin hanger I'm using in one of my sceneries. I lost all my source files in a computer crash. What I'm really hoping is that some of you has the source file or you would be interested in making a new model that'll work in RWY12.

You can use modelConverterX to convert files into other formats. If this was one of yours(I think I am reading that right) and you want the source files back you can loosely get them with ModelConverterX developer version.

http://www.scenerydesign.org/development-releases/

Just import the bgl file into the program and export it to a .3ds file. You can then import it into Gmax and make any changes to it you want. The only down side is you lose all animations if they are in the scenery.

If you are having issues importing into Gmax you may have to convert the .bgl to a FSX mdl file then import that into the program and export it to .3ds file.

DangerousDave26, I must have used the wrong term as I am not the author of this scenery object. I'm not the author of any scenery objects. The ability to create scenery objects is waaaayyyy above my cognitive abilities. What I meant is I no longer have any of the original (fill in the blank) that I used when creating the scenery with FSSC. All I now have is the two add-on sceneries that have this hanger object as part of the scenery.

The biggest reason I would love to have that hanger is there are private farm strips with hangers like it all over South Georgia where I live.

It looks like a Frank Betts hangar from a long time ago.

I used some of his buildings when I did scenery in FSSC.

But for the last few years I've been using EZ Scenery exclusively.

There's a range of similar hangars in EZ Scenery that might be usuable.

Pete.

Pete, I'm pretty sure you are correct as I used to have just about everything that Frank made available for download. As a matter of fact I just recently found four of his scenery objects online that had been repackaged for use with RWY12 but alas this particular hanger was not one of them.

Was he the person who had Franks Hangar?

I regret not downloading more of what he made.

Ultimately I think I lost everything he had done.

If I remember correctly Frank's stuff was all API macros. As it was older stuff.

Today we would prefer to see library objects they are easier on the frame rates.

Yes. He's the fellow. At one time I had everything he offered. Additionally, he had a lot of links on his page. I got most of what was on them too. Since I'm mostly into small grass farm strips I had a lot of farm buildings, houses, hangers, etc. Lost it all last year when my computer crashed. I didn't make many cd type backups; rather, put it all on another computer. Well wouldn't you know it, a few months ago when I got back into flight sim 9, that one crashed before I was able to retrieve hardly any of the files.

This go round, I'm backing up everything on external files.

Seems like to me that he closed up shop two or three years ago. I don't think his site is existent anymore. His objects were all APIs.

Looks like all or most of Franks stuff is over at AVSIM.

Search for Frank Betts and you will find it.

Not sure which scenery has that hangar.

Thanks for your help; however, there are only four files at AVSIM. I already had the RWY12 zip. It has one hanger in it but, alas it's not the one I'm looking for.

Maybe if I can ever master Easy Object Design or similar program, I will be able to make one. (most likely when pigs fly)

I suppose the one ray of sunshine in my endeavor is that I already have two scenery addons with this hanger in them.

The guys over at California Classics are using Sketchup to make buildings for scenery. It's supposedly easier to use than Gmax. Just a thought.

I use easy object designer all the time to create my buildings. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy as falling off a log. It can only create API macro's, but I then use Model Converter X to turn those into library objects for easy placement with Airport Design Editor.

You are searching for his name in the simple search. Go to the extended search and search for his name in the author name field.

When I search only in the FS2004 section it returns 49 files or 5 pages of results.

Romeo-Delta, this the type of thing you mean a 'barn shelter' as i call it?

Matt! YOU DA MAN! That's exactly what I am looking for. Just take a look at the below screen shots. Looks like you need to add a little overhang on the roof.

DangerousDave26, (with my tongue firmly in left cheek), what do you expect from a 66 year old simple fellow? :icon_lol:

hows this then Romeo-Delta? better for you? ignore the colour as i haven't mapped it yet :salute:

Matt, I'm as happy as a pig in slop with that buddy. :applause: That big boy is going to look so good on my farm strip. Now I can get rid of the static airplane I have under it. Since I now longer have the FSSC file, I haven't been able to do that. My Cessna 170 AI has been sitting on top of the static one....
