Only 6 Helos at Hovercontrol for FSX!!!

Guess I better drop all my projects and start building helos!

The one that actually surprises me, far more than helos, is the total and complete lack of inclination from the AI teams to move over. I can understand that FS9 is still probably the best platform for airliner fans, due to the amount of add-ons available and the fact that most of FSX's improvements are more aimed and low-and-slow flying, but can anyone point me at a single, freeware, FSX native, dedicated AI aircraft model?

It's that easy?

Piglet, I am FURIOUS that there's not a Grumman X-29A - or a Curtiss-Wright CW-22, or an XP-31, or an XP-23/YP-23, etc. - of your standard out there yet! Absolutely FURIOUS! Now stop fooling around with Battlestar Gallactica and helicopters and get on with it!!!

:wavey:

Kidding aside, it would be pretty neat if at some point you'd re-release your great N-9MB for FSX/SP2 - I was just looking at some pictures of the earlier N-9 from my last trip to the Udvar-Hazy Center, and thought it'd be great to fly a new one with all the bells & whistles of your Meyers 200. If not, I'll try to keep it to a dull silence with the complaining.

While quietly keeping alive hopes for that Grumman of course. :icon_lol:

Yep.

If someone abducted me, locked me up in a room, fed me and kept me comfortable as well as asked all the AI model creators for their source files, I would personally convert every single of the 9450934039 AI models out there to FSX standard.

That's a bit of a silly statement, isn't it, Bjoern?

There are still new FS9 AI aircraft being produced fairly regularly, as new aircraft enter service, or as older models are replaced with those utilising new techniques to reduce the load. Yet they're still coming out for FS9 only, not X.

Why?

Not a complaint, a serious question. I can understand why more people are not doing user aircraft for FSX - it's a lot more difficult than it was for 9, but not even the rock bottom basics are being recompiled in X format, which just doesn't make sense to me. Freeware designers are slowly moving into X, now the platform is stable and hardware has caught up, in terms of scenery, add-ons and user aircraft, but there seems to be no movement in the AI groups at all.

No, it isn't. If someone else doesn't do it, you'll have to do it yourself.

Developing models for FSX isn't harder, it's only different. If you're not afraid of change, you won't have a problem at all developing FSX aircraft.

I have more than enough on my plate already, thanks. While it would be nice to be able to do absolutely everything, I have to let something else go to do it.

However, you're just proving my point - if it's no more difficult, why is no-one who already has the skills doing it?

Dont worry - there will be plenty of FSx a/c in due course - especially seeing as how it is looking like FSx may be the last of a long line of MS Flightsims.
