OOM, I've kind of missed it...NOT!

Yes, thorough cleaning of driver remnants is mandatory in any case.

I've been using O&O 8.6 for quite a while now. It does its tasks excellently and was surely worth the money.

Okay, seems I've got a serious problem with my FSX installation. The same flight without UTX and with 178.24 drivers lasted longer than the ones before, but again, FSX started to fill up my Ram (went from 48 to 65%!), all spiced up with distorted autogen. I shut FSX down when it got really jerky.

I then had Furmark stress test my 8800 for a while, but no errors occurred.

So it *has* to be FSX.

On parer they can...In real life if mine gets that hot it starts to act stupid and artifact and crash...

So I run my fan at 100% and it holds temps in the lows 40's under load ....

I've got the fan on "auto", since running it on 100% would make my 8800 the loudest component of them all.

I just did that flight again with a fresh FSX, traffic and UTX plus the default AI (forgot to remove the .bgl) and activated UTX night lightning (xP). The sim didn't crash, Ram usage peaked at 68%, but I still got those artifacts.
Maybe an error with the (default) scenery itself?

Got my 8800GTX at 95% fan...any less and it gets unhappy but either way it shouldn't cause an oom error...maybe a ctd.

Well its not a completely fresh FSX if it left a bgl behind..So its still tagged in the regestry??????

Maybe auto on your card is funky...I really like lower card temps than that..

But I understand loud cards.... I sit between two 4870X2 cards running at 100%.....LOL

Thats why I use headphones.......HeHe

I'm not trying to second guess you here ..I just want to see you get this fixed is all....:wavey:

Overheating gfx shouldn't be causing those particular issues in your system.Under stress, 80°C wouldn't bother me too much (9800gx2 and 4870x2 run hotter). If you want it to run a little cooler you could mount a fan to blow across it. I take out my GFX cards every few months and blow them out with compressed air.

I agree Kilo Delta....My 4870X2 is hot as heck, but I run its fan at 100% to cool it...Still that has nothing to do with his memory usage.....

Have you run Memtest to see if its good?

Yes. Twelve hours without a single error.

My case is open on one side, so a fan isn't necessary. The GPU is clean as well.

"Stress", by the way, is stress testing with Furmark, by the way. Furmark produces temperatures you won't see in normal, current games. So if it isn't going critical in Furmark, normal games aren't much of an issue. I don't consider FSX a threat for my GPU as well.

Bjoern thats sounds awefully hot and the symptoms you describe would go along with an over heated failing GPU.

Hm, I'm not seeing artifacts in other games and sims, so the GPU can't be failing.
And as I said, GPUs can take a good beating temperature-wise.

How much Ram does FSX use for you guys (especially those with UTX and tons of AI)? I see FSX.exe allocate as much as 1.4Gb Ram when I'm on a one or one and a half hour hop.
