Opinions on the newer Carenado offerings?

I have a few of the more distinctive Carenado offerings like the Bonanza V35 and the Mentor. . .beyond that I see a long parking ramp of high wing Cessna's and low wing Piper's. . .boring. Yes I get that each one of those high wings/low wings is distinctive in it's own right, FDE's are different, speeds, instruments, all different in a sense particular to the aircraft itself, but it's still a "cookie cutter" fleet as far as I'm concerned and nothing that would draw me to their website. . . .even though I still go there from time to time hoping that something exciting will appear. . .that hasn't happened in a long time.

I may be alone in this, and don't really care actually if I am, or maybe there are others who feel the same. . .and I suspect there are, but Carenado has become a "yawner" for me with no sign that it might decide to break out and actually get creative any time soon. 'course that is just my opinion.:salute:

I certainly see where you're coming from. In the end it comes down to what kinds of aircraft you like to fly. If you are interested in mainly military or warbirds, Carenado isn't going to do much, if anything for you. Personally, GA is my favorite category of planes, so I have a whole bunch of Carenado airplanes. I've bought a pretty high percentage of all of their releases since they went to FSX.

I would love to see Carenado put out slightly higher fidelity products, but the price tag would also increase. There aren't many other developers where you can get such a well-rounded product for 20-30 dollars.

lol yeah when I was working on my IFR ticket, even the stationary simulators weren't particularly 'realistic' compared to the real plane, and certianly no feedback through 'feel'. They taught you to focus on the instruments and ignore the 'feel' which is what you must try do when in IMC as your sense of 'feel' can get you into trouble in IMC. So you could really use any of the Carenado planes for IFR practice and they would fit the bill fine if you plan on using FSX for realworld practice. They are also good for practicing your checklist flows and such.

I don't think I could have said it better:ernae:

IMHO, Carenado fill a niche - ie they produce a wide range of decent GA aircraft at a fair price.

As mentioned in a previous post - they don't really match the best offerings available nowadays. The bar keeps being raised! Which is why, although I have a few, I rarely use them now. My next GA purchase will be the Realair Turbine Duke (once they release the DVD version). I know that I will fly the Realair offering a lot more, so although its more expensive, it offers better value for me.

Having said that, if you are a big fan of GA aircraft, then Carenado are to be applauded for offering such a wide choice.

Cheers

Paul

If you are a big fan of "all the bells and whistles" aircraft that "fly by the numbers", then Carenado MIGHT not be what you are looking for. If, however, you are a person like me that likes to hop in a very nicely modelled aircraft, be able to start it without dragging out a manual and fly over some pretty scenery without worrying if you are going to blow up an engine, and just sit back and relax and enjoy the flight, then Carenado will never let you down.

I own all the Carenado aircraft except the 208, and will buy again from them with no reservations whatsoever.

Plus, unlike a few other developers, they do listen to their customer base and respond fairly quickly with patches and updates to fix major issues if they do crop up. And, the only time that I had an issue with one of their aircraft, after contacting them they determined that I had a corrupted file and gave me a 10% discount on my next purchase, which I gladly used. My kind of company.

Simply spoken, Matt, if you liked Carenado in FS9 there's no way that an FSX Carenado plane will disappoint you. The newer are obviously even better.
Just then try the accusimed Piper Cub and you simply will be blown away.
With Accusim they use an FDE outside FSX and connect it via FSX's own Simconnect, so they can simulate systems that would not be possible inside FSX. Thus you kinda get an aircraft out of FSXI or FSXII. Just take a look at those videos:
A2A Piper Cub Accusim
A2A Spitfire Accusim propeller
You see... we are all spoiled kids here :icon_lol:

The only Carenado aircraft I tend to leave in my hanger it the Mentor, not for any specific reason, it's just not one that grabs me.
Carenado have always delivered great value for money subjects and are getting better all the time.
That aside, I enjoy kicking the tyres and lighting the fires flying, so these suit me.

I have only two, the V-tail and the Caravan, but I like them a lot. They look great, fly really nice and offer great value for money I think. I'm not that interested in GA, but these two, with the Sibwings Saab Safir, are my favorites.

I own all of them and love all of them.

same here and since FS9

I also own the comparable other payware(Eaglesoft,Real Air,FSD, ORBX) and beeing very critical my PERSONAL adict would be

Nobody has better FPS then Carenado
Superb gauges

FS9 FDE's were better but the slump in FDE accuracy dissapeared from F33 onwards(and with patches)

If I compare the FS9 Dreamfleet Baron(hard to get it working in FSX/a benchmark then) Carenados is all better except haveing no 2D panel. And FS9 portovers have terrible FPS(Normal my Rig runs arround 18-20,A carenado runs at 25-26 the DF at 5 (five))

Felixthreeone,
I think I might be inclined to save my money until this:

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
and this:

become available. They both look rather nice to me, far better than anything I have seen Carenado Produce in my opinion.

I have a bunch of the Carenado models, and I think they're all great.

The fact here is, some 'more detailed' models like the Aerosoft Katana are in the works for a certain time in which Carenado already released 4 models.
I believe, if Carenado spent a little more time on things like the 'functionality' of their models, they would be even better. For example, 3D gauges, reality xp gauges integrated, and a preflight module like on the Katana, those are just some things who just make me want to use and click them and who won't get me bored for a while :) :)

Not that ANY carenado model ever got me feel bored, I just love it when a model feels 'alive' and the engine breathes .

Nevertheless, I can't wait for the T210 :jump:
