Impressive improved FPS with this new version. You gotta check this out. Shouldn't be too much longer now.

Stunning, as usual!

Nevertheless I'm amazed how bad most of the landings in the various FSX videos are.
This one would have required a hard landing inspection afterwards and the re-stowing of some of the passenger oxygen masks which would have dropped out of the ceiling upon that impact. :icon_lol:

It was a rough landing indeed, however you can blame that on the CATIII. Any landing you can walk away from, right?

To be honest, I think most people put too much effort in "soft" landings. The goal of any airline pilot is to get the plane safely on the ground, not get a -5FPM squeak. Of course that is my opinion.

Of note, "I" wasn't the one that landed it :D I did cringe a bit when I saw it.

Well, you have to shoot for a soft landing in a heavy as constant landings like the one in the video take their toll on the lifetime of the structure.
An airline pilot is expected to put the plane safely AND soft down. Not neccessarily a 'greaser' but at least gently.

@skyblazer3......that might have been the case :icon_lol:

Very, very impressive looking airport there (as usual for Orbx). I wonder how it will look NOT being run on their super-cooled, top-of-the-range i7, mega-Gig graphics card test rig? I really like the vids John has posted on his blogs but when you see the fps and his specs, I have to face the facts - my rig wont produce results like that. On the bright side, my bank account is offering to buy me some new goodies (barring no wife-driven catastrophe!) - bye, bye S775 and DDR2 :jump:

On the touchdown comments - I work in an airline simulator centre and you would be surprised how often the floor shakes! A recent trip I had on one budget airline bounced everyone out of their seats! I did wonder if any of the tyres had blown, so it does happen..

Good point, there are a few reasons for the simulator hard landings:
1. Most important. You almost NEVER land without any serious malfunction e.g. engine out, no flaps etc..
2. They aren't really suitable for visual maneuvering, especially on landing. The motion lags behind the visual, and like in FSX you can't really 'feel' what the plane is doing.
3. The visuals resolution is terribly low for that big screens
4. Last but not least many sims even fly different than their RW counterparts.
So even if it's a step forward from FSX etc.. it's still not totally realistic

Sorry for 'hijacking' this thread. The scenery looks terrific, I hope that Portland will be of similar superb quality!

Nice Vid!

I have the current version of YMML, and was happy to prepay the low bargain price for the upcoming version.

I am looking forward to V.2 with improved frame rates, although I have been able, with a few tweaks, to successfully run the current version.

I'm really hoping that the good folks at Orbx will model some of the other larger airports from down under...Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin etc.

Keep up the great work Orbx!

The good folks at Orbx have already done YBBN Brisbane ;)

As usual their work is really nice but their prices are exorbitant ( USD$32.14) ....too bad, I can´t pay this money for an airport, too bad.....nice work.
