The Japanese are re-enforcing there troops at Ormac with a convoy with ammunition and more troops. On November 9,1944 P-38's attack but do not stop it.The convoy makes into the harbor at Ormac and start unloading that night. By morning the ships are except Kinka Maru have finished unloading and are headed back to Manila. Kinka Maru is still docked and unloading when word comes that US planes are headed their way.

8:00 the first or 32 B-25J's takeoff from Morotai in the Southern Philippines and arrive at Ormac Bay 11:34 and attack. Some of the ships are already out to sea and to far away to attack because of lack of fuel. After it was over 3 large IJN Transports were sunk and 2smaller Transports and Destroyes were damaged.

Looks like you're have a great time Talon. I took one of DB's 500lb bombs and turned it into a Torpedo Class Weapon for Sudo Skip Bombing with B-25's. Worked out very well and the AI's make a very realistic skip bombing run when using it.

Pen I know but in the Bay they explode on contact with the water so I just drop bombs. I use the skip bombs in my Battle of the Bismarck Sea Missions. I also have the Havoc and the B-17 skip bomb. At the Bismarck Sea the B-17's sunk 1 Transport by skipbombing.

What a coincidence! I just finished 3 strike missions there for the 11th using carrier based planes from the Task Group TG-38.3 (Essex +). Gooooo... Talon! :salute:

November 9,1944-P38's attacked

November 10,1944-B-25's attacked with P-38 and P-47 escorts. After that attack P-38's attack disabling Akishimo and Okinawa.

November 11.1944-Carrier planes attack.

By "3 missions" I meant one mission with 3 options, ie: either in an F6F, SB2C or in a TBF.

I see that the life expectancy of an IJN sailor or a maru merchantmarine sailor or their ships is still quite short.

I my research for the Essex campaign I read one bomber crewman's war diary. He wrote that for the raid on Marus in Ormoc Bay, the crews were ordered to strafe any survivors in the water:
"November 11th
We returned to the Philippines and sent four strikes over near Leyte, Ormac Bay, Leyte Gulf. VB went after 3 troop transports and they are loaded down. Briefing told us to strafe all troops in water if ship was sunk. I had 2 - 4th hop. Sunk 2 small AKs strafed many small boats full of Japs. We lost 3 VBs , 2 more made water landings - 2 more picked up - 1 gunner wounded and they landed on Leyte. Many fighters covering Jap replacements. Trombino (Brooklyn) jumped by 4 Oscars. He got 2 of them. 1 VF pilot bailed out and was picked up by sub. Many Jap fighters in air. Bad day for us and them. They are staying low and catching our dive bombers on pullout. We are told to close dive flaps just at pullout and sling shoot us out and chink low."
 
I've worked out most of the problems I was having with the Ormoc Bay missions. Some of the planes will skip bomb while others will glide bomb the ships. I redid the DP for the B-25J and put skipbombs in it. I had to use the B-25H for strafing because the J model doesn't have the solid nose. As in the real attack the Japanese AA is very intense and accurate. Many of the B-25's were heavily damaged and lost.

If all goes according to my plans there will be several B-25 missions with different plane commanders attacking different ships. ( I have their names and what ship they attacked ).

I have not flown a mission yet without taking damage.

Hey Talon;

A long time ago I was doing some missions in the PI's about the landings around Tacloban/Dulag on Leyte and had Torpedoes exploding on contact with the water. I traced it back to some scenery I had installed which messed up th Land/Water masking so CFS2 thought the Land extended far out into the Water. You may want to check any add-on scenery you have for the PI's.

I had already changed the scenery over the weekend and the torpedoes work fine. Not all the B-25's skipped bomb that's why some are set to glide bomb.

One of the missions I've set up you fly as a wingman in a 3 plane flight. You are in the second slot and have a different plane and target. The 2 other planes attack their target while you fly on to attack your target. It works very well.
