Oshkosh Teaser

Could hardly see you guys from in behind those 'bazooka's' whoops I mean camera's ... you two are in hog heaven :adoration: ... love your B-25 photo's Mark ... almost makes me feel like Jimmy Doolittle

Definitely a sharp looking couple! It nice to see you can get this close to the aircraft!

Looking forward to the pictures!

Cheers,
Huub

Meeting all these interesting people also was fun. Among them were Patty Wagstaff (see below), Bob Hoover, Bud Anderson, and many others like the crews of the warbirds and all kinds of spectators like us.

Also being able to get close or even into the warbirds was spectacular.

It was a tremendous experience.

Cheers,
Mark

Sorry for being a little slow with the pictures. I have over 1000 pictures from the week on two cameras. Here is another teaser from the Heritage Flight Oshkosh 2016.

That shows commendable restraint: I had over 700 on one camera from a single day at Duxford. What a week at Oshkosh would have yielded I dare not think!

Hairyspin,

Here are some of mine. I took about two-thirds his number in two days...like a kid in a candy warehouse. That's the wonderful part about digital photography...I just wish I had Tom or Mark's camera equipment.

I got both F-4 Phantoms in the same shot taking off by guesstimating their takeoff point on the runway, angling where I thought their line of departure would be, and just held the camera button down for a couple of seconds. It was pure luck.

Hairyspin,

And a few more from day II...from my TriMotor flight.

I made 240 in the whole week, which is an exceptionally high number for me. But then again, I'm into medium format analog film, and every capture is a lengthy process to execute.

Here's one of The B-25J Panchito. The crew invited us to check out the cockpit and the rest of the crew stations inside the aircraft, man, that was a treat and I wish we had a B-25 up to todays standard in our sim. The Vertigo thing looked so promising, a pity it stalled.

Sorry for the crystal specks in the image below, I have to find a way of getting rid of them. It was shot in ADOX CMS20 120 type roll film, and the original foto has around 100 megapixels.

Roger-Wilco 66,

Gut gemacht!

Seeing all these pictures brings back fabulous memories of being with Mark and Andrew at Oshkosh. What we need is a SOH booth at Oshkosh each year where we can all gather and talk about flight simulation. I know I am a dreamer but wouldn't that be fun.

Tom,

Forget dreaming. That could be an important path to sustainability that we've been discussing. Think of how many kids and young adults go to that show. It ain't just old farts. :costumed-smiley-034

That would be fun , count me in ! Thanks to all for the excellent pictures . It really stands out when looking at these well preserved aircraft they are certainly " a labor of love " ! :applause:

Just think, we could get a grant from Lockheed Martin and set up computers with Prepar3D to show the kid about flight simulation and SOH. The kids would go home and become flight simmers and SOH members. Just to share a moment, while visiting the USCG display of multiple aircraft I met a LCMR in front of the MH-65. It turns out Charlie was the pilot. When I mentioned Prepar3D he said he got his flight training on P3D. I asked if he ever heard of SOH and he mention he visited the site all the time. I asked who the moderator of the FSX forum was and he said "some guy by the name of stovall." I smiled. His eye got big and he asked, YOU? I said yep. We became instant friends. With that Charlie had Roger-Wilco-66 and I sit in the MH-65 and MH-60 Jayhawk cockpits with helmet in hand taking pictures. What a moment. Charlie said he would get back to me with pictures so I could make scenery for USCG Sitka, Alaska. He also supplied the link to an in cockpit cam for the MH-65 flight at Oshkosh. Click HERE.

Stovall,

If only I had that experience with someone from the CFS2 forum,...sigh. :very_drunk:

Say hi to my old neighborhood for me. I grew up two blocks away from Lambeau Field on Thorndale. Great place to be a kid.

Paiken,

A self-respecting Patriots fan would ordinarily never do this, but when in Rome...
