OT: Arthur's Round Table Found?

King Arthur is a mythological figure, a folk hero like Robin Hood. Chrétien de Troyes took the tales and ran with them and created a literary sensation in the 12th century.

There is no real round table.

He's a fascinating subject, my undergraduate thesis was actually on this subject, but it never fails to make me giggle when people insist that he was real.

I agree Chris that he is mythical character, but still they seem to have uncovered a round table that may have been used in a great hall which I understand is quite unusual. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
Ted

It doesn't help that the story exists in The Daily Mail...just a thought!

Stuff like this is what made me stop watching the History Channel. Subjective fibs and tabloid reinvention. Like ee cummings' Olaf in 'i sing of olaf glad and big', "there is some sh*t i will not eat".

It's inevitable that this be posted on any internet forum discussing King Arthur...

Speaking of Disney, you can keep your Errol Flynns, Kevin Costners and Russel Crowes and give me the completely charming 1973 Disney version any day.
