OT- Azores

From what I have read I believe they and the Canary Islands (Spain) are somewhat similar to the Hawaiian islands but less developed; although very popular with European holiday makers. I think their geology is similar to Hawaii (plates moving over hot spots).

Lonely Planet's page on the Azores makes interesting reading, Ted: if you're into geology it could be a fascinating trip. Does Mrs Ted like that sort of thing? They also mention whale watching in season which would interest my missus. Certainly more interesting than A N Other beach-shops-and-hotel holiday.

Ted,
Been to the Canary Is several times, but not the Azores (or Hawaii). Very nice, hot but I doubt as hot or humid as Hawaii, very laid back, quiet atmosphere and nice people in the Canaries, and friends have been to Madeira say the same. So I think the Azores would be similar.

And you wouldn't be interested by any chance because of the Coastal Command/ FAW/VP history from Lagens etc...ha!....;)

Cheers

Shessi
