So DCS is totally free, I'm going to have to download this, so I take it you can just buy addon aircraft and vehicles like in fsx or do you have to buy something else? Any recommendations / advice would be gratefully received!

When you download DCS-World it comes with a free SU-25T and on top of it you can buy A-10C, Blackshark2 etc and no, you dont have to buy something to get DCS-World, anyway if you don't want to buy anything, it's still a great little gift from ED.
 
Nice! But i won´t buy anything from them until there is some new Place to fly around. I started with Lock On in 2004 and since them the Planes have greatly improved but you have to fly
always over the same Area (which didn´t improved, looks the same as in 2004). I bought DCS-Warthog and stopped flying it because it gets too boring. :sleep:

they are in the process of making a Nevada map. I'm not sure when they are going to release it though
 
I know, i bought DCS-Warthog during the Beta-Release so i should get that Map for free. But i wonder if it ever will be finished.
 
I got so excited I cranked up DCS World to see if the Huey icon was added and even more excited when another update was applied, but it was not the Huey dang it. I'm really liking their new auto update feature.

Its not my screen of DCSW :>. Just example of WIP.
 
Downloaded DCS World a few days ago and have been flying the heck out of the Su-25T. Looking forward to this Huey and the MiG-21 addons!
 
It looks nice and everything, but I don't think that the Army used that weapons configuration in its day to day operations in Vietnam. I know there is a model(plastic model) of a UH-1H from ESCI that shows a US Army Huey in that config or something similar, but they used a Aussie Huey pic for the box art if I remember correctly.

I can't recall a single operational picture of an -H model (or -D model if you want to split hairs) that used that setup.
BUT, it is for a game/sim, so I suppose there is some artistic license.
I know a guy that is a guru with this stuff if they want to get info about Hueys. He would probably love to help.
